I have Vista Home Premium.
Has anyone succeeded in restoring an ERUNT backup in Vista? If so, I would be grateful for some help.
I've tried several sets of instructions from various web sites, so please do not send me any links unless you have actually tried the instructions yourself, and succeeded.
I think I have tried every combination of:
a) Using the Administrator account.
b) Using my own account, which has administrator privileges.
c) Not selecting "Run as administrator"
d) Selecting "Run as administrator"
e) Backing up to the "Windows" folder.
f) Backing up to anywhere except the "Windows" folder.
g) Using the command line.
Here is a new question.
My laptop has only two accounts:
1) Administrator
2) Me (as administrator)
Will the registry entries for both of these users be backed up? Or do I need to backup from the Administrator account, then back up from my own account?
Here is another question.
Who is the "current user"? Is it me when I'm in my own account, and Administrator when I'm in the Administrator account. The purpose of these questions is to determine: is the backup made by "Administrator" identical to the backup made by "me"?
I have succeeded in making many backups both as me and as Administrator. I have succeeded in restoring backups made by "me", but *never* by Administrator. I am worried that a backup that is restored by "me" may not contain Administrator entries. (Maybe it doesn't matter.)
