Solved Help Please!

I recently got my laptop about a month ago. Everything was working fine up and until randomly today. It was working fine all day until 4 am rolled around and it blue screened me.
I freaked naturally, and so I searched on the internet and found that maybe I need to update windows. Which I tried...and it blue screened me through the whole process....which made the update unsucessful. And it was stuck in a loop for almost an hour. Of resetting and installing.
I'm using Vista Home Premium.

): now I'm not sure why its doing this, so help?

D: Bumping cause I really need an answer~

It only tends to blue screen on me if I either,
A. plug in something with a USB
B. Unplug something from a USB

Because right now its working alright. But I'm afraid to touch anything.

could you post your minidump for someone to analyze?
it should be in
c:\windows\minidump
they will be listed by date. just .zip it and attach it to your post =)

Ooh ~ Alright, *is about as internet savvy as a caveman* uuuh...how exactly do I make it into a zip file ^-^; and attach it to the post?

My Computer

Hello Mellzy, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You would right click on the file, and click on Send To and Compressed (zipped) folder. Afterwards you can upload the ZIP file to your post like a image file in the tutorial below. :)

Hope this helps,

^-^ Thank you very much! Alright although I think I've solved the problem...oddly enough after this blue screen moment a different window popped up from microsoft. Saying that the error seems to be occuring for anyone with a certain update.

The solution that I used (What the help window directed) was
To go to Safe Mode
Go to Control panel
The programs selection.
Uninstall programs.
Task list (On the left hand side)
View installed updates
then on the top there should be a search bar
serach for
kb973879
And uninstall it.

=D So far it seems my laptop is suddenly working fine at least when I unplug usb ports it doesn't spaz at me. But I'm not 100% sure this will work seeing as I haven't tried anything but the tablet. ^-^

Hi Ken! Thanks for your reply.

When I go to

C:\Windows\Minidump

there are 10 files (lots of errors, lol)

what do you mean by "ip" the dump file?

I cannot open them because they are a DMP file and windows doesnt know which program to use, and neither do I. I tried right clicking to send to compressed zipped folder, but doesnt work either. what am I doin wrong? :/

im the meantime I will try and do what mellzy suggested. Here's hoping :)

he meant to "zip" the files, just left off the z :D
you can just right click -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
you use windbg to view .dmp files, but if you're not used to seeing them it may just look like a lot of gibberish. just zip 'em and up 'em and one of us will be glad to take a look at it for you ;)

Thanks Dustinface!

for some reason I am not able to put it into a zipped folder.

I right click -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder

then it asks me to put the folder on my desktop...
"Windows cannot create a Compressed (zipped) Folder here, do you want to place it on the desktop instead?"
I accept.

but then an error pops up

"Compressed (zipped) Folders Error

file not found or no read permission"

try dl-ing zinzip.
you just download it for free, and zip files with that
sorry you're having trouble compressing the file =/, hopefully that helps
