Hey all, first time poster here.
Recently, my laptop (Sony VGN-NR120E) has been freezing up with the sound looping. Usually, I would just power it down and turn it on again. It would tell me that windows shut down unexpectedly and it would give me 4 options (I would choose start windows normally and everything was fine).
Just last night, it froze up again. This time though, a blue screen appeared , with
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer.

I tried starting windows normally and the loading bar with the microsoft logo below appeared but then the blue screen popped up again. So, I tried safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt and last known good configuration (I think i had the last known good configuration show up by pressing F8). None of them worked, with each of them loading files then blue screening at the end.
Right now, I'm using the vista repair disk because I cannot boot into Vista. However, when i click on repair your computer, the system recovery options window does not have my operating system listed. It says something like, "if you do not see your operating system listed, click Load Drivers to load drivers for your hard disk. So i click Load Driver and things get weird. I have very little knowledge of computers so I don't which file to click. I've gone through the folders, expecting to see some indication of the operating system but I don't see one.
If anyone has a solution for this problem, or the solution to the overall problem (the blue screen), please tell me, your help would be greatly appreciated.
