Sorry, I've been so busy with exams! They're all over now, so I've got plenty of free time No more late replies from me.

I was hoping that the information about your services would shed some light on the problem, but I can't see anything wrong with the culprit services. I'm sorry to say that I'm all out of ideas, don't worry, I'm not going to leave you with your problem, but I'm going to have to ask for help

Host Process or Schvost represents a group of process and not just one. If I had to guess the cause I would say it is due to a conflict with someother software.
Lets try a clean boot and see if that helps.

Go to search and type event viewer. Put cursor on left hand side and administrative. Check codes and explanations for everything at the time of the problem

Thanks Richc46. However, I mentioned in an earlier post that i had tried that. With all non-Microsoft services and Startup items disabled, the problem still occurs. It still could be a conflict with some software because it happens so late in the startup process. I use the term startup loosely because the error doesn't usually come up until about 3 or 4 minutes after the desktop and all other things are started.

I did a router login this afternoon to make sure the firmware is up to date and, it is. Can't see a problem with the setup and it works great.

I haven't checked back at the NVIDIA forum to see if there is anyone knowledgeable of the NVIDIA nForce Networking.

Read the tutorial that I mentioned and try in safe mode. Does that work?

It's not a sleep mode problem. Perhaps I gave that impression early on. The problem doesn't occur if I boot up into safe mode.

Make a system restore point before installing. You may want to remove it completely if not satisfied.

That looks like a support service, rather than a diagnostic software.

If you install it, you should be given the possible causes of your problem.
It has helped many, here at the forum, but not all
Start with a System Restore, to remove, if it does not help and you want it removed.

I've been around, I asked Rich for help with this one so I'm leaving him to it - if we were both helping it's only going to confuse us all I downloaded Soluto a few days ago and I knew how to download it (now that the website has changed), so I thought I might as well chip in

Download and run Process Explorer v15.12

Click on the Process tab to expand it, as shown below. Now, take a look down the CPU column to find out what percentage of CPU time is currently being taken up by the sub-processes under each instance of svchost.exe (as per the highlighted example, showing 3.71). It is quite possible that the sub-process causing the problem will have a high value here.

ok. Thanks for all your help so far.

Feature this- I downloaded and installed Soluto and it asked me to reboot. I hadn't rebooted for four or five days. After the reboot, no error messages. Soluto just told me about how to shorten my boot time. I was hesitant to reboot another time just to see if the problem really went away.

So I'm sitting here playing some Freecell and I get a BSOD. One of those IRQ not equal..... but the culprit was NBVol.sys. I don't know if that's Nero Backitup or what. Of course, it rebooted and, again, no error messages and Windows didn't even acknowledge that it had recovered.

I agree with Richc46- Soluto isn't the most obvious program to work with. I launched it and clicked on Heal Crashes. It told me about IE and WE crashes once a week and a svchost-netsvc crash- 2 occurrences. I did a partial check on the last one and it said that I may be the only person to have this crash. I didn't go to the web site to explore it.

So, I don't know whether Windows has healed itself or what.

As far as I know Soluto may fix problems. Dont quote me on that one. Some have clicked on Heal Crashes, and then they reported that the problem was solved. It is suppose to speed up your computer, though.
