Re: how do I remove the "ASP.NET Machine Account" from my login screen?

ok...NEW problem!........

so there's this "ASP.Net Machine Account" on my user login screen...and I was wondering, how to remove it completely from my pc or should I just remove it from my login screen?

Please help (A.S.A.P.)

~David~

(P.S.)

Note To Brink (Shawn) - I have not got my new vista cd yet, but should come in either tomorrow(Tuesday) or Wednesday. ......But i Will let you know when it comes in.

I'm hoping it will give me a choice to repair my computer so I won't have to format my entire hard drive again. (I have a lot of important programs that I need that can not be deleted. (including..office '07 and a hallmark card maker (which is a 5-6 cd installation).

Thanks again,

~David~

David,

It's nothing to worry about. "ASP.NET Machine Account" is created when Microsoft .Net Framework is installed. :)

Hold on guys, I had a post on the first page with my Disk management.

Now, I didn't read the posts, but I hear talk here about a CD.

For me, there was my C: drive, and HP Recovery.

The other two drives were blank (Meaning Ubuntu)

I simply had to delete those drives and format the unpartitioned space into a new drive.

My Computer

ok, thanks shawn. But it's kind of wierd now, because I don't see it on my login screen anymore? :sarc: oh well. But thanks anyways,

Hi Shawn,
Sorry it took me so long to tell you, but, I did get the vista cd some time last month. but I still have the ubuntu partition on my hard drive which I don't want. But anyways, my main question(s) for you is, if I load the vista cd, should I be able to see ubuntu listed as a choice so that I can then delete it and reclaim the space back which it took? And how long exactly should it take for that process(meaning the choices of operating systems) to take once I load the vista cd in the cd tray without it trying to re-install vista so that I can delete ubuntu off of my hard drive?

Please Respond (A.S.A.P.)

Thanks,:D

Hello David,

From looking at your Disk Management image posted earlier, the Dell Factory Restore Vista DVD will format your hard drive and restore Vista back to factory condition. It should wipe out Ubuntu with it. :)

ok, but I would like to just delete ubuntu without wiping my entire hard drive so that I don't lose all my programs. So if I put the vista cd in, I should be able to just delete ubuntu only and not wipe out my entire hard drive, correct?
And when i insert the vista cd, how long should it take for it to start?
I do not want to do a factory restore at this moment and not right now.

Thanks,

~David~

I'm not familiar with Ubuntu installations, but here's what I found. Be sure to backup anything that you do not want to lose to be safe. :)

First, if you have a OEM Vista recovery DVD, then you will only be able to do a factory restore with it. Instead, you will need to create a Vista Recovery Disc that you can use to repair Vista and remove the Ubuntu partition with.

Use Disk Management in Vista to delete the partition that you installed Ubuntu on.

Using the Vista Recovery Disc, run a startup repair on Vista to fix the MBR file.

If that did not allow you to boot into Vista afterwards, then boot from the Vista Recovery Disc into a command prompt from System Recovery Options. In the command prompt at boot, type Bootrec.exe /FixMbr and press enter.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I don't see any linux partition in your configuration.
When you boot your PC, you see GRUB or LILO?

I just want to say thanks for every ones help in helping me getting rid of the ubuntu partition, especially you bjproc, cause you were the one who told me about EasyBCD
which really helped by using the second scenario. That deleted ubuntu completely from my vista boot loader. Now I no longer have to choose from ubuntu!!:cool:
Now the computer is loading up and acting just fine.

I also want to give a big thank you to Shawn (a.k.a.) Brink, who helped me more than anyone else, but was just as helpful as always. You really are an truly awesome helper!
But I also want to give another huge thank you to bjproc, because he gave me the link(s) on how to remove the ubuntu partition.

And last but not least, to everyone else out there who helped me during this stupid ubuntu unpartition. I will make sure I never ever load ubuntu onto a hard drive again!
If I ever feel the need to use ubuntu, than I shall run it on my Virtual PC. NEVER on a hard drive!

Thanks A Million,

~David~
