I REALLY need some help/guidance

Okay I updated the driver and unplugged the router for 2 minutes and it's still doing the "Local Only" thing.

Update: I was looking around the Dell Wireless Card Utility and ran a diagnostic test and I think this might be the problem:

Hopefully this will help with solving the wifi/local access issue, but I don't know what I have to do to fix it.

Good grief I spoke too soon! I was fine until I just saw the little globe icon gone. :sa: I'm going to try the second thing on that list.

While you're trying that, did you do the disconnect/reconnect of the CAT5 cable for your router that I suggested previously. I know you did the power down/power up on the router.

I went through the same issues... Where I'd try a few configuration changes and it would seem to work, then I'd be back to "local access only" again. It was seriously puzzling because none of the software utilities at my disposal could help.

Microsoft really should provide more information in these circumstances. There's a good reason why the connection status changes, but it just isn't propagated to the UI. Perhaps even a 3rd party software tool might not have sufficient exposure.

Anyway, the only thing that worked for me was a fresh install of the operating system (hardware is all still the same). Once you're back and running, just be sure to make a complete system backup and note it for future reference, in case the issue arises again. In my case, it has never returned. It may even have been something like the order in which various changes were applied with software updates... who knows.
