LAN and WLAN not working after latest Windows Update

I was fooled many times, so I try to disregard incidentals, if appropriate, like "After I updated" etc.
If we ignore that which can be a coincidence, there are several new possiblities

Are you sure that your nic card is OK?
Run a full anti virus scan and download and make a full updated scan with malwarebytes.

Way ahead of you there, haha. One of the first things I did after the problem reared its ugly head, was do a full scan with avira antivir and then malware bytes. Then I saw that some antivirus software interfered with some network processes, so I uninstalled them just for good measure.

My card should definitely be okay. I was using the internet the moment before I restarted my computer and everything was working perfectly.

See if ping command is working
In a cmd prompt type ping yahoo.com

Well, I finally gave in and reinstalled Vista. That seems to be the best bet to fixing the problem as it has been working since (even with the re-installation of all the Windows Updates.)
