Latest IntelliType and IntelliPoint Drivers

Hi Peter,

I haven't noticed since I only run Vista in a VM now.

I suppose that you could create a shortcut from the Keyboard and Mouse Control Panel items to use instead for them. It would be interesting to hear if anyone else is getting this or not to.

It's quite strange because the usual icons are in the program files but aren't associated with the right .exe I guess. Meanwhile all the items that it inserts in All Programs are all blank icons. Somebody goofed and I wonder how long it will take for them to notice.

It's also the first time I've known the issue of being unable to change the icon for any imported software desktop shortcut.

why when i did check up drivers for Intellipoint

or Windows update they do not state that update

is available? strange 1 side does not know what the other is doing.

I've never known WU to offer Intellipoint or Intellitype software but there is an update button in the All programs entry.

By the way Brink, that problem with blank icons I reported earlier didn't happen in my other Vista boot, so must have been a glitch. I'll uninstall/reinstall and see what happens.

But this is weird Brink. I've uninstalled/reinstalled in the main Vista boot and the same thing happened again. I wonder what is so special (or unspecial) about this one?
In the Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall a Program the correct icons for IP and ITP are showing OK, but not in Start/All Programs.

I would have posted a screenshot using Snipping Tool except the method I've always used for posting pics of menus (as per a post in SevenForums I believe) for some reason now no longer works....grrrr!!!! LOL

I discovered that file associations for many file types had been switched when I installed Nero (dammit to Hell...grrrr!!!) and now that I've switched to default (I think) all is back to normal.

I think in this case it was either .ico or .icl, not sure which. The latter had no default for some reason.

Anyway, all is well now.

Nero used to give one the choice not to let it take over file types, no longer with Nero 9 unfortunately.

Nero really is getting beyond the pale. For such a once-wonderful application suite it has really gone downhill, which is somewhat un-German-like, if you know what I mean.

Not only does it now take over file types without asking, but unsuspecting people also don't know that it makes a System Restore point for each and every application, tool and extension it installs...so installers beware!

One person on the Nero Forums reported he had 66 restore points after installing the full Nero 9 suite. I avoided it all by fortunately seeing his post and disabling SR before I attempted same...LOL!
But that would partly explain why it takes so long to install.

By the way, I don't see any Tute here regarding File Associations and there is a very useful page here: removed.

Out of sheer laziness and wanting to create a drivers-backup disc, I purchased (sigh) eSupport's Driver Agent. Intellipoint is offered as an "important" driver update, as it classifies it as a "HID Compliant" mouse. I've given Intellipoint a whirl, but don't see the benefit. Can someone please elaborate or expand on why one would want to have this update? THANKS!

Well I don't know about anyone else but have Intellipoint or I can't assign my wheel click for what I want, I have the Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse it's rather old but works very well for me and when going to Windows 7 I downloaded and installed the version 7 driver for it.

Driver version 8.0 is only available for mice. Still listed as version 7.1 for keyboards.
