Monitor Will Not Turn Off When PC Is Turned Off

Hi John,

What happens if you disconnect the monitor from your computer and then switch it on? Does this No Signal message appear and stay there until you switch the monitor off?

Since you asked , I turned the Monitor off and disconnected the VGA cable and waited a few min . the message says Cable disconnected . Input 2 : HD15

you download the BIOS update from asus, double click the .exe follow the instructions and it will flash the bios.

I"m looking at the Asus Mother Board Site . You may choose "ASUS Navigation Wizard" or "General Download" to obtain product BIOS, drivers, utilities and user manuals. I followed the prompts from General download 1 .Select Product . I choose Mother Board 2 . Select series socket 939 3 . Select Model A8NSLI deluxe . Select Operating System Vista 32 bit .

32 files found BIOS (14) [BIOS History 14 OPTIONS
And then i have to choose the correct flash tool as well
BIOS-Utilities (6) THE FIRST OPTION , ASUS Update V7.06.02 Install Program for Windows 2000/XP/2003 & 64bit Windows XP/2003.

AFTER THE PROMPTS I GET INFO FOR XP AND 64 BIT OS ?
THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I AM UNCOMFORTABLE FLASHING MY BIOS

if you are not comfortable flashing your bios don't do it. you can always live with having to turn your monitor off manually no BIG issue. but if you flash the wrong bios you are out a motherboard, and will have to sent it back to ASUS.

so if your are not comfortable don't do it.

I have searched for hours trying to find the correct asus update for my mother board with no luck yet . On the Asus Web Site i enter my information and i am not finding the update that says it it is for my board and system . I have been all over the site looking for info and found this . One more thing to do before updating the Bios .
I have the asus A8N SLI Deluxe , Windows Vista Ultimate 32 Bit with SP 1

A8N-SLI Deluxe Bios version 1016
Please do read the description before updating BIOS
To avoid crashing file system, please do update the chipset driver to below version prior to this Bios.
For WinXP 32bit system, please download and update chipset drivers V6.65 or later
For WinXP 64bit system, please download and update chipset drivers V6.65 or later
For Win2k/2003 32bit system, please download and update chipset drivers V6.66 or later

I'm not sure what version of Bios i have yet , but know where to find it . I know i cant get in a hurry about this , but i do have to be 200 % sure that everything i do is correct . It's starting to get a little frustrating looking for the Asus update i need , I can spell Misdirected backwards now .

That did not work my friend . I DBL Checked the information , started to Download the Asus update Program , Choose a location to save ( Drive C - Downloads ) Clk OK and got this warning > NT service registry Error ! Please Reboot NT and run again .

I want to Thank You for your Time & Effort Today .
I believe the Risk is Far Greater then the Advantages at this time and I am giving up on updating the Bios , Concentrate on fixing the other issues . I think there is a good chance that the older / original Bios I have is the cause of my display not turning off when the PC is . The Sony Display CD I have is for XP only , I need a newer version , So i am going off in that direction for a fix . See where that takes me . Thanks Again John
