As regards the RAM issue, you should be fine as long as you use a reputable brand and that its timing specs match the memory already installed. Just because memory doesn't appear on your motherboard's QVL doesn't mean that it won't work - it just means that the motherboard manuufacturer hasn't tested that particular board and memory combination. You should be fine with Kingston as it is a well-established brand.
