I have never use the Auslogics Disk Defrag so cannot comment on that but I like Defraggler because of the gui display of progress. It is not ubber fast but that also tells me that it is actually doing something. second runs show the same as the end of the first run.

My first run through of auslogics on my old rig brought back a full 12Gb of HDD space I'd lost through excessive game modding. I don't know what the current free version's GUI looks like but the latest boost speed has an excellent and very thorough one with multiple color coding options and defraging to the 10th of a percent. It also alows you to decide how much CPU power to devote to the task. (I always crank it to highest and go eat a sandwich or something so I know it get's it done right.)

Question....when I click on the your "defrag all" shortcut, is it similar to doing a "defrag c: -w" through the command line?
If so, I have already done that and the GUI still doesnt work.

Yeah its exactly the same but with a -v as well so it tells you some info. So thats not going to help you but your better of using a third party defragger anyway as the vista gui defrag is a bit rubbish.
