''Yesterday ELSA China held a channel meeting, talked lots of uninteresting stuffs there. But we noticed ELSA showed a new NVIDIA graphic card road map!

So,according to the road map, we are going to see GT206 coming out in the end of 2008. And a flagship GT212 will show up next year Also there will be another 9800GTX+ reflash in 08Q4.

GT206 is a 55nm chip and GT212 is a 45nm(or 40nm?) chip. Since the road map is directly coming from ELSA China, so i think it is totally believable.''

hmmm...... yet another G92 rehash :eek:
though the GT212 sounds nice

although if they change the names once again and they are called the GT206. I'm going to be angry. can we PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD stick to a name, and simple ones.

like a GTX206 or something. and another... another 9800GTX+. common. are you kidding me Nvidia. give it up already.

I need the 260 refresh to come sooner. I might run outa time with my 90 day step up.. I will actually. sadness.

OH YEAH...:eek::eek:.
you may well be lucky Gunther the new 260 will be out pretty soon (hopefully)...that will be a right kick in the b***s if it runs out 2 days before

Cmon Nvidia talk about flog a dead horse ...... well G92 is far from dead ...BUT WE ARE MOVING FORWARD NOT BACK!!!

They're need to re label the same card 3 times just to squeeze every last penny out of GPU enthusiasts gets pretty boring

''oooh new GTX on its way ..its got an extra 200mhz on the core & a fancy new sticker''...i mean cmon :sarc: put all your eggs into the GT200 range & bring the prices down...

thats where theyre efforts should be focused :)

here is the ''UPDATED'' GTX260... with 216SPs

''NVIDIA is preparing to up the ante and stoke up its challenge, against AMD's HD 4800 series, with a tweaked GTX 260 part.

news_GTX260216SP-1110908.jpg

Beefing up the number of Shader Processors from 192 to 216, appears to be the order of the day and, the GTX 260 has been caught on camera by Bear Eyes to boot.

news_GTX260216SP-2110908.jpg

The above image gives a perspective on some of the branding we may expect to distinguish newer GTX 260 parts from their older brethren.

With the article also offering a sneak peak of the performance increases to be expected from the boosted number of Shader Processors, it appears we can expect an increase of roughly 8% in 3DMark Vantage tests.

Gaming titles pick up very nominal boosts in the titles tested too, with the most notable improvement being just under 8%, again''

hopefully its out soon enough for Gunther to step up!!....lol :)

I sure hope so. :):)

your pics aren't workin on my comp. what about everyone else. Can you link me to that info.

plz, thanks!

oh and I looked it up. supposed to be released in Mid September. I think I'll for sure make that. but it's should I try and hope for the 55nm first. or is that to far away. plus the step up means I'd be out a card for a few weeks. with all these new games coming soon. I'd have to plan that few weeks carefully. afterall I'm getting Crysis warhead on the 15th. :)

My Step-up card is actually faster than the card I got through NewEgg - faster default clocks, that is.

Both still using 192 for shader though.

what did you step-up to. the SCC edition or something. and I have been able to get my GTX260 to speeds of 740 MHz core john, and at that speed i can bench, and game. thats pretty DARN fast personally. for what it's doing at least. faster than the 280. oh and in order to get that high you need to increase the shaders. but don't go above 1550 on shaders. thats the highest I've gone, or read without problems. I've been staying around 720/1512/1215 on my 260's clocks. and it screams.

Question is, will the newer GOLD edition with 216 SP be able to OC as well, because if not, then my current 260 with it's OC will beat the new one. but if it still OC's just as well. than it will be a great card.
so do you have 2 now? and when can I see some SLI. or I will for you, then send it back

So, does anyone have any links or info on the New Nvidia 55nm tech.

I know that they are planning to release the GTX200 series on a new 55nm Fab. and that they will probably release a GTX260b and 280b. or some people are saying a 300 and 320. or something like that.

So does anyone have some links, or good info, other than some 1 liners saying that NV is planning to make them. Like any release dates. or what not. I've heard that they are going to silently release them RIGHT after ATI releases there new 4870x2 and they are going to drop some "Good" new 55nm cards that will be very competitive yet single card solution.

the 4870x2 is supposed to be out August 12-13th give or take. So hopefully we see some NV Green soon after that. or the next day would sure rain on there parade.

So ya, let me know what you all think, and share your info and news with everyone.

Thanks!

I wonder how much better it is, and I bet those additions make the new one overclock less than the first.. Not sure though. Now it's out. I might get a second original for $250. not sure though

192 versus 216 Shaders

''After a rather unusual and strange launch of new GTX 260 we are starting to get some initial feedback from the market. The suggested retail price should be roughly the same as the old GTX 260 and there is no strict guideline as to how you should brand your card. This might indicate that the old GTX 260 will mildly drop in price.

Someone calls “the new” card GTX 260 square, someone is using the other distinction, but this renamed and re-flashed edition of the card will certainly add even more confusion to an ultra confused market.

We learned that you should get up to a nine percent performance increase, but this depends on the game you are using and whether an additional 24 Shader units at the same clock can really push the card much faster.

The chip is still 65nm and there is a hope that the new GTX 280 with 55nm process might make it to Q4 2008''

I've been told that the new 55nm chips are coming sometime soon.

Also I 've been hanging around on the evga forums and a few of them are acting as if another card is coming decently soon and a few guys even said don't upgrade.. just wait. so I'm not sure but new stuff could be coming soon.

Personally I think I'll keep what I have. it fly's through ANY game I give it.
and the new 55nm chips should be renamed something else. not the 260/280. I think they need to be 270/290. or in the 300's. if they keep them to the 200 series name they are stupid.. there will be 30 different 260's. and 3 different models. PLEASE tell me Nvidia is smarter than this.. it's funny.

I'm hoping something new will be out before mid november the way the evga forum mods are talking

i hope some 55nm remakes do make it out, like what they did with the 8800gts.
