no sleep

After I last posted, I tried putting the system to sleep via the sleep button in Vista (not on the keyboard) and, it went to sleep while I was turning off the mouse. Maybe putting it to sleep via the keyboard and waking it up via the mouse reset it. I haven't tried it again (yet).

In regards to the power supply, I wonder if there is a BIOS setting.

no idea. i would not have any idea 1) how to get into BIOS
2) what to look for
3) how to change anything there.

Just for information, I was able to put it to sleep with the mouse again last night.

To get into the BIOS, you would click on Delete (Del) during the start of the POST. I don't have much time right now to look into it. Maybe later.

I'm surprised one of the others hasn't jumped in with some ideas.

I took a look at my BIOS and didn't see anything in regards to the PSU and sleep mode. The only applicable entry concerned what happens when the Power Button is pressed.

I found a website that said if you used the following keystroke sequence- Windows key, right arrow, Enter- in Vista, it would put it to sleep. Haven't been able to make it work.

window key, right arrow, and enter brings up the start menu in my computer. i typically refrain from doing mad dashes of keystokes, because if it does do something, and i did not pay close attention, i could end up with either something i did not want happening (bad), or i would stumble aross something i did like, and then i would spend countless time to get it to repeat.

Run Ctrl-Alt-Delete. In the right hand bottom corner, choose sleep. If that works, then I suggest waking it up using your mouse and then try the normal Start, Shut Down, Sleep.
