no windows sounds

Search for Windows Audio and Audio Endpoint services windows media player

i have

windows audio
windows audio endpoint builder

both state : started and automatic

any ideas on this one anyone?

i have the ability to get sound through hdmi and headphone jack.

i have all drivers installed.

Headphone Jack to headphones :
i get windows sounds independently and audio (say mp3s or when watching video or youtube) independently

however on

hdmi to tv:
i get video audio or mp3 or youtube audio independently but no windows sounds ?
i only get windows sounds when windows media player is open and playing say a video etc or when you tube is playing a video.

i dont get windows sounds independently through hdmi?

any help much apreciated.
