Is that 3dmark 06? And is SLI actually being detected? It was never detected for me, and after looking on the Internet, was the same for a lot of people. When you look in system information, it says linked display adapters is false.

So that 21k would be just a single card.

You should get a decent score on 3dmark Vantage, though. SLI works great on that. I get about double the score over my single 8800GTS 512.

This is wierd, I tried going to my registry in vista x64, just to check the access for future problems and I can get to Hkey Local Machine but I CAN'T find current control set.

Of course, coming from XP and being new to Vista, I am getting to the registry from Start>Startsearch>regedit... is that the correct way to get to the registry in vista?

I know that it wouldn't matter but, now I am worried that if this happens to me again, I will not be able to solve the problem and having a band-aid is just that... a temporary band-aid!

Also, are we to delete the whole folder of Nvcontrol panel or just the files inside the folder? just making sure before I mess my whole OS :P

Current Control Set should be in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>CurrentControlSet, but there's no Nvidia related items in the bit that's listed on that guru3d website.

There is a load of Nvidia stuff in the Services section under CurrentControlSet, though.

You are correct, I think that was for XP and not for Vista.

Well, as luck (or lack off) would have it, my NVCP just took a dump on me when I went to 3D Settings, I can't believe this, it was working fine a few days ago.

this time, it gave me a BSOD that would never recover and I had to use a hard boot to bring it back.

I Googled the 0x00000101 error and it appears to be something with shader 4.0 instead of shader 3, also about overcloc issues with video card (which mine is not).

I really don't know why Nvidia has not come up with a real fix for it, according to the forums I found with crash probles, this has been around since 2006.

Well... back to the drawing board for me I guess.

Anybody has any other ideas here? I am going to try to uninstall everything again and install NVCP first and then the video drivers but this is getting to the point where I want to kill someone at Nvidia.

I believe u need to uninstall all the driver. Use CC cleaner and driver sweeper to clean ur file and register. u don't have to run safe mode. by clicking the same file it will uninstall the driver. remember please uninstall latest driver. try download nov geforce driver and older system tools . see wheter is it working ?

You know, I am getting a bit miffed at all this uninstalling and installing new nvidia drivers. I have never used ATI before in my life but it sure looks like I should be looking to invest on one on my next purchase

At any rate, I will uninstall both video card & NVCP drivers tomorrow and install fresh copies.

Would you advise I install the NVCP first or after the video drivers?

I believe is the Display driver then NVCP . that is how i resolved my physx driver.
