I might have tweaked something that resulted in unintentional deletion or disabling of this right-click option. How do I restore it?

None helped.
The local group policy instructions were too complicated for me. I opened it and I got stuck.
The reg tweaking > Hkey-current-user... showed no explorer under policies.
The downloaded file that was saved , then merged was successfully entered in registry but did not restore the pin to option

I did not know what to do with the link: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/233243-default-file-type-associations-restore.html

At that tutorial link, you would download the .zip file for the listed .lnk (LNK) option in that tutorial, then extract the .reg file from the downloaded .zip and merge it. This will restore the default associations and registry entries for .lnk (shortcut) files.

The link's registry entries were entered successfully...but did not help. How do I delete them from the registry?

Did you restart the computer as per the instructions in the tutorial afterwards to apply them?

No worries about removing them. It restores the default registry entry for the .lnk (shortcut) file type, so there's nothing to remove.

Yes, I did.

By the way, in option 2, regedit, run as administrator, I found Explorer under Policies but there is only one entry in the right pane : Default...with no value. I right-clicked empty space and entered pin to entry just so I can delete it to enable pin to option....to no avail.

Also, Start menu customization indicates the option Pin to is ENABLED but just not visible in right-click menu.

It seems this PIN TO option going AWOL has been an issue to many for years. And for most, it has seemed un-restorable. Which brings to mmind: how did it disappear, to begin with?

If you come up with other solutions, please let me know

Great news Pappi. Yeah, merging the .reg file as administrator should have been able to get it sorted, but I'm glad you were able to get it sorted. :)
