That's great news. :)

I would say that since you have tried everything to try and repair Vista, you may need to reset Vista back to the OEM factory default setting using either your OEM Recovery installation DVD (not this one), or from the recovery partition. Be warned though, this will format your hard drive and wipe out everything, then reinstall Vista.

For the recovery partition, I believe you will need to press F9 to enter the recovery screen to select to restore Vista. It should say briefly during startup what F key to press though.

See if pressing F9 off and on during startup can bring you to the recovery screen instead.

My Computer

Andrew,

If it's still trying to flash the BIOS, then something is most likely wrong with the BIOS. I do not know what else to suggest other than to take it into a computer repair shop to have them take a quick look at the BIOS chip for you to determine what may be wrong. :(

Sorry,
Shawn

I do not think that you will be able to as long as the BIOS keeps flashing itself over and over like that.

Eh same problem as my computer had :I

had a boot sector crash couldnt start PC, just crashes after trying to load windows, in safe mode or normal..

Put in the Vista DVD. load the DVD go repair windows,
Open up CMD,

type

list volume.

(tell me how many volumes you have.)

If you have just the one,
go select volume 1 (assuming 1 is the volume number)

then type, shrink volume

then it will shrink the volume,

type create partition primary

new partition is created with the shrunken space of the C: drive ( If only partition)

then restart, or either type exit,
now go install vista,
and install vista on the new partition. you may have to format it first, when you click wat partition click format. then go next, to install, let me know how this goes ok :)

My Computer

Download Vista Iso of the internet, Im not sure of the file size, or if A friend of your has a disk, Personally i dont see why a computer shop wouldnt lend you theres or even burn you a copy, you only pay for the serial code, the disk is free..

Get your hands on the disk, Or a Burnt/Iso copy then follow my steps :)

If you cant find one, ill have a look on the net for you, and make some sujestions, cheers.

My Computer

Oh heres a secret, i found out after days Of trying to install windows on my laptop which had crashed due to system virtual disk space (ran out :I), Vista Doesnt need a Ms-Dos partition, so dont waste your time with Ms-Dos it will just cause it to crash, if you have one on your system delete it. Through Windows Me or 98.

My Computer

That's great news. :)

I would say that since you have tried everything to try and repair Vista, you may need to reset Vista back to the OEM factory default setting using either your OEM Recovery installation DVD (not this one), or from the recovery partition. Be warned though, this will format your hard drive and wipe out everything, then reinstall Vista.

For the recovery partition, I believe you will need to press F9 to enter the recovery screen to select to restore Vista. It should say briefly during startup what F key to press though.

It actually doesnt wipe *Everything* It saves in most cases some documents, Program files (Installs) and Win32 files, and some user information in a Windows.Old file in your C drive after a complete reinstall.

My Computer

No, it should go into the System Recovery Options screen shortly afte booting from the DVD. Did you make a 64-bit recovery disc and not a 32-bit one by mistake?

In the worst case scenario, you may need to restore your computer back to the OEM factory default installation from the recovery partition. This will wipe everything out and reinstall the Vista back like it was the first time you got your laptop though. :(

Brink you keep talking about a 64-Bit OS, he as a 32-bit why are you sugesting he uses a 64-Bit instead ?

I dont understand that, would he want to try a 32-Bit,

My Computer

hi, well 2 nights ago i was using my laptop fine n i went to turn it off and for some reason i think it was frozen i cant remeber, i turned it off by the button. when i went to turn it on the next day. i got a message saying windows was not shutdown properly:
then got the options start in safe mode
safe mode wth networking
safe mode with command prompt
last known good configuration
start windows normally

so i tried to start it as last good configuartaion n got nuffin. it goes to wear the bar goes across n says windows vista but then it restarts itself. so i tried safe mode. but no matter which one i picked it would restart itself. i even tried puttin the recovery disk in but still it wouldnt load that.

Sparks,

I was just checking to make sure that he wasn't trying to use a 64-bit version with his 32-bit one by mistake. ;)
