Problem with Hard drive

Hey, sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I don't know where to put it. I am having trouble with my hard drive. When i switch on my laptop, it comes up with the message "cannot find operating system" However when I put the windows OS disk in the drive and boot the computer i goes through the set up proces, then says it cannot locate the hard drive. I dunno what to do, or what the problem is

So that the members can assess things more closely could you please give us more Specs?
Model, make of computer, hard drive etc.the more info we have the better.

Hello and welcome Kesume is right we need your computer spec's you only put your os, so please post us back with that information as soon as possible.
