"Program Files" Folder Inaccessible, Taking ownership does nothing

Ok, lets try and repair the installer.
Found this on another post.

1. Go to a Windows Vista (Any Version) computer that has the Windows
Installer service running correctly and run regedit(Start-Run-Regedit)

2. Go to the location
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\msiserver

3. Right click on this key and select "Export" and save the key to a Flash
Drive or other.

4. Run sfc /scannow on the damaged Vista computer - you won't need the
install disk as it goes to backup files on your HD. Do not reboot when
complete

5. Double click saved .reg file from working machine and import registry
settings into damaged Vista computer.

6. Now reboot and try to install/uninstall

I followed all those steps but still no luck. It's only with ASUS programs that the installer is having issues with... I can uninstall other programs just fine.

Try taking ownership again:

Press the Windows Key + R to open the Run dialogue. Type cmd and press enter. In Command Prompt, type the following two commands (or copy and paste them), one after the other, pressing Enter between each one.

takeown /f "C:\Program Files\ASUS" /R /A

icacls "C:\Program Files\ASUS" /grant:r Administrators:f

Don't make any changes to the commands (assuming this is the correct directory), just copy them over. Tell us if any errors are reported.

Followed those steps and I still have this access denied problem with the ASUS folder/files.

Can you un-install the software and re-install ?.

Trying to uninstall gives me this error: "The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file: C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\OLED.dll."

I did run those 2 commands that Ed suggested for the x86 program files folder as well, still no luck.

Have you tried to un-install this in safe mode since the scan repaired some files ?.

Yes I have, it still gave the same error.

Are you able to rename it, if so do that then try to delete it

Im using Vista Ultimate 64bit and it says Access is denied on C: drive. Can anyone help???

Boot into Safe mode, and sign on as Administrator (if it hasn't been activated see Enable the (Hidden) Administrator Account on Windows 7 or Vista - How-To Geek).

Then try uninstalling and reinstalling.

This is getting way weird.

Can you right-click on the folder in Windows Explorer, Click on Properties > Security . Advanced > Owner and take a screen shot of what it says (see How to use the Snipping Tool in Vista - Vista Forums) and save to a file. Then click on Permissions, click on the Owner's ID, click on Edit, then Edit again, and take a screen shot of that and save. Upload them (see http://www.vistax64.com/faq.php?faq=vb3_reading_posting#faq_vb3_attachments).

Hopefully I got the right screenshots that you needed

note that I did play around a lot w/ these settings to try and get the installer to uninstall but none have worked thus far.

TrustedInstaller ain't supposed to be what it's showing if you've done what we've been saying.

Right-click on the folder in Windows Explorer, Click on Properties > Security > Advanced > Owner, then click on Edit, click on the box beside "Replace owner on subcontainer and objects" so that a check mark appears, click on Administrators (SJPC\Administrators), click on Apply, click on OK when you get a Windows Security message, take a screen shot and save, click on OK, click on Permissions, take a screen shot and save it, click on OK, OK. the Owner should now be Administrators (SJPC\Administrators), and Permissions should indicate Full Control.

Try the uninstall/reinstall of the ASUS program. If it doesn't work, take a screen shot of the error message, and upload it along with the other two screen shots you took above with your reply.

Ok guys, my whole C: drive is locked....I cant run any thing like command promt as Admin or any thing.... it say the the root is not accessible, cause my C: drive is Access denied
