Re-installation: Black screen and white mouse cursor? How to fix?

What makes you so sure it couldn't be the video, is it integrated or an add on card?

Richard has a point, if it successfully installs but won't 'display' it's H/W

But I can see the menu, the options etc... I just can't see at a certain point, which is after installation.

You have to understand Ted and I are at a disadvantage, we cannot see or touch your computer, we have to go by facts. The facts that I know, are that those tutorials are awesome, if you followed them correctly and you cannot install, it has to be the DVD or the computer.

I know, you two have been immense. I'm appreciative of both your supports, but I'll continue to try find the solution, and post the solution if founded to help any others who experience the same problem in the future.

I would like to say, I've finally fixed the problem!!!!!!!!!!! You can't believe how epicly happy and ecstatic I am right now, took me so many hours!

Thanks Rich and Bare foot for your patience and support, wouldn't of done it without you guys! :D

It was my hunch that paid off, I knew it was something internal but didn't know what it was. But I went to BIOS > SATA OPERATION > CHANGE ADCI TO ATA > REINSTALL VISTA > BLACK SCREEN FOR 1 MINUTE > IT RELOADED (OMG!) > VOILA! > WINDOWS USERNAME AND PASSWORD CREATION PAGE!

Can't believe it was so simple, a basic ADCI to ATA change, but I assume I might need to change back afterwards.

Once again, thanks to you both, I'm very grateful! :)
