A) Click on the Download button below to download the file below
Replace with Clear System Temps.reg

B) Go to step 5.

4. To Restore the Default Delete

That's it,

Shawn, Thanks for this. Replace Delete with Disk Cleanup worked perfectly for me in Vista Home Premium SP1 (32 bit). I have many times in the past stupidly deleted the recycle bin icon when I meant only to empty it, so your hack is much appreciated!

Only tried the one since it was moderately useful to me.

I really would just like the delete option removed with nothing else added. Unless I could replace it with a "winning lottery numbers generator" option. That would come in handy. Anything else just makes a large pain-in-the-ass into a small pain-in-the-ass.

Thank you for your reply.

Just run this reg file (trust me!) the del will be gone.

How do you get delete back if someone wanted to?

Hi Gate1975mlm,

Welcome to Visa Forums.

You would just use the REG download in step 4 to restore the default Delete. ;)

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Although I'm pretty computer savy and have been using a computer of one kind or another since 1981, after getting my new computer with Vista, I've been deleting the recycle bin over and over. A lot of the time, I would be extra careful to only click on empty, but my hand is faster than my eye & brain!

Today I got smart and decided to do a search to find out if there was a fix for this. The first one I came across entailed me editing my registry. The second one led me to this website where I corrected the problem in less that 2 minutes (which included the downloading time).

Thanks so much for making my life easier!
