Regular BSODs

I'd do some testing on your gpu, try furmark.

Hi, PantonB.

Many thanks for your input. I downloaded Furmark, and let it run for about 30 minutes. It clocked my gpu at 79 degrees at its hottest.

Do you think I should let it test for longer?

Many thanks again for your help.

My Computer

No, thats fine.... gpus run hot, but as long as you get no artifacts, it should be fine.

I was hoping you'd get bad artifacting, so you'd find your problem.

You have tested your ram and cpu, and now your gpu... man, I'm getting out of ideas for you.

Have you done a chckdsk as suggested above?

What is the make/model of your PSU?

Try this RAM test: RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - Windows 7 Forums

Try this CPU test: CPU - Stress Test with Prime95 - Windows 7 Forums

0x124 is almost always a hardware error, but software is also possible. Let's remove some high-risk programs.

Remove AVG with this tool: http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/avg_arv_sup_____.dir/avgremoverx64.exe

Uninstall Comodo, then run this tool: http://rapidshare.com/files/126630164/CFP_3_File_Registry_Cleaner.zip.html

Install these Atheros network adapter drivers: Atheros Communications

Among suspected parts is your PSU. PSUs are one piece of hardware that gets worse over time. If you could try another one in your machine, that would be great.

Hi, Jonathan. Many thanks for your assistance.

I'm making my way through your post. I did download and run the CPU test, and after a short while in, I got this:

[Oct 1 23:27] Worker starting
[Oct 1 23:27] Setting affinity to run worker on logical CPU #0
[Oct 1 23:27] Beginning a continuous self-test to check your computer.
[Oct 1 23:27] Please read stress.txt. Choose Test/Stop to end this test.
[Oct 1 23:27] Test 1, 800000 Lucas-Lehmer iterations of M172031 using FFT length 8K.

[Oct 1 23:40] Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
[Oct 1 23:40] Torture Test completed 5 tests in 13 minutes - 1 errors, 0 warnings.
[Oct 1 23:40] Worker stopped.

Is that anything significant? I will let you know how I get on with the other things you suggest.

In answer to the other couple of questions asked, I've ran chkdsk 3 times now, and all has been okay. My PSU is a 500W (Peak) Quiet Dual Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan.

Many thanks again.

That means your cpu didn't pass the stress test. Are you overclocked?

Its possible your psu has gone bad and can't give you enough power so it screws up.

Hi, again.

No, my CPU isn't overclocked (as far as I'm aware). I wouldn't have a clue how to do that, so it's just how it was the day I bought the system.

I will run more memtests in the next day or so, and will let you know how I get on.

Many thanks again.

My Computer

Yha, if you're not overclocked, theres a good chance the cpu is on its way out.

Your brand isn't the greatest, so it will be under powered to begin with, less than 500W to begin with, and now its even less.

Try the memtest+ but I'd get ready for a new psu.

Hello again.

Very sad to report another blue screen 124 last night, whilst playing WoW. That's my first "ingame" BSOD for over 2 weeks, but my second in four days. My first was simply clicking on a link to youtube whilst on facebook. Until then, I had not had one for 2 weeks.

I have ran memtest multiple times now, and that has come back with all passes. A friend is lending me a spare PSU that he has, 500w, which I should get in the next day or so.

As ever, I will keep you posted, and thank you again for your advice so far.

Nutz..... hopefully the psu will fix'er. g/l
