router help please

all you need to do if you have the hardware is plug it all in, plug your ethernet cable from the modem to the routers input, then turn it on, give it a few seconds to kick in, and find your router wirelessly after you have installed the driver for your wireless dongle that moobird directed you to earlier in this thread, i hope everything works ok after that and good luck snuffle :-)

so will that router i bought work, i cant get my vista laptop to autoplay the cd roms and when i tried run d etc.. nothing happens

To be honest I think you would probably be better trying to find someone local who can see just what equipment you have.

We don't know what country you are in what make and model laptop you use, different countries will have different set ups and equipment and what may work here in the UK may not work say in America or Australia or any other place where our members come from.

You will have to fix the problem with your CD drive not working if you want to install the drivers from the CD you got, the link you posted cannot be followed as the bidding has finished, did the seller tell you it would work with your set up and in your country ?

As much as we want to help you this has been going on for several days now and it is difficult when you don't know the names of what you have and we can't see what it is you have.

This is my opinion on the situation and maybe someone else may want to try to carry on and get you up and running but I'm bowing out of the thread and sorry I couldn't help you.

you dont need the cd rom to work, all you need is an ethernet cable to connect your laptop upto the internet, download the driver that moobird directed you to and install it, after that, you will be able to detect the network wirelessly and you can enjoy the internet without wires :D

You dont need drivers to connect to a router. The cd is for people who cant type in 192.168.1.1 into their web browsers and set up SSID's, WEP, WPA encryption, and connecting router to modem process. Thats why they say to put in the cd before opening router label.
