enabling auto arrange is what scrambels the icons align to grid chunges them into 1 pile on left

Are your desktop icons now staying where you put them, in the order that you put them?

auto arange is what scrambels them. Do you not see the pics? i see them on our thread cant figure out how you took view ,because snipit removes view,print screen does nothing control +v gives me warnig bell.You have solved my scramble prop. This is a symtom of my proplem i was not aware that my proplem is a:user acount b b:the underlying boot seqence{the low res boot screen under my final hi res boot. I dont see admin acount. only user\admin

All PrtScn does is to capture an image of the whole screen and place it on the clipboard. You then need to open Paint and then press Ctrl + V to paste the captured image into Paint. You can then use the Snipping Tool to extract the part of the image you actually want to include in your post.

i dont know when you reply until i restart firefox and relog in. I am sure there is a better way last post under scrambled icons. If you look at desktop pics and last post you will notice at leased solved icon and thaugth old dog new trix 1st time used paint in my life thanks a bunch New tread wrong boot srceen

A screen shot will not be an option in this case. That implies a before AND after shot and his original screen arrangement is gone by now!

Why is this important to me. I just had the same thing happen and before you start me in a run-around like to are apparently doing to Frog1, the screen color or depth would have nothing to do with the answer we are looking for.

The icons on my screen have all been re-arranged, re-sorted, and otherwise re-positioned in such a way that the groupings I had before are not longer in their proper order, i.e. scrambled. Auto-arrange is not one (otherwise I would not have been able to put my icons all over the screen) and the grid option is on but it of course would have no bearing.

I think what you are looking for is software like fences that will always keep the icons the way you like

dennis dwarf helped me a lot! to leave icons anywhere you want them,you have to have both align and auto arrange off.
