SFC Problems

I haven't been able to find a new BIOS update that has worked for me. So far, the PC just shuts down on me whenever I restart. I've been just putting it to sleep to avoid the run-around. I've installed all available updates from Windows Update as well. If I run Windows Update it tells me that I am up-to-date. I once tried to use Device Doctor, but that didn't work out for me. What do you suggest from here? I ran a Disk Check, but in the end, the PC shut-down before start-up and I had to go through the entire Startup Repair/System Restore process. How about another type of disk checker?

Set updater to notify and make sure all the boxes regarding which updates are checked.
To get some of the more important drivers updated, go to search type device manager and then update the drivers from there. If any of the drivers have a yellow mark next to it, give that one priority.
You can go to the website of your hard drive manufacturer for an even better check, but it does no repari.

Just realized that you just reinstalled. Just set your updater as I explained in my prior post and you will be updated.
If problems continue after an clean install with format, any problems would be most likely due to hardware, I'm leaning toward Hard Drive.

I've successfully recovered my laptop with a clean install. Nothing suggested worked for me. I don't expect anything to help my desktop either. Seeing as how the one error code I got was referencing "FixPartitionTable" I think only a Bootrec is going to recover it (and only if I'm lucky). The problem could of course, be more comprehensive than that, and the hard drive could actually have gone rotten. Not sure where to go from here. I don't have a Windows Vista disk to run Bootrec. Is there another way to run a Bootrec?

Hi Rich - paragon P2Padjust makes windows bootable on new hardwrae in the sense it will load the drivers needed for the new hardware.

It doesn't fix any other problems.

I think bootcorrector is also in there - that is for repairing bcd problems, or optionally resetting the o/s drive letter.

Both are indispensable.

Not sure if they are relevant here - tho he might give the boot corrector a whirl.

It doesn't come with a bootable disc included. tho.

Those suggestions didn't work out for me. I ended up loosing my boot all-together. I couldn't even preform a System Recovery because the D:\ Partition got wiped out. I had to upgrade the system to Windows 7 and buy a new product key. Lucky for me, I was able to find one for about 20 dollars online. I've fully recovered the system, fixed all the errors, tweaked the system for a performance boost, burned myself a System Image back-up.

The only issue I seem to be having now is that my web browsers are blanking out randomly. I looked into the issue online but didn't find any advice that helped it out. For example, Internet Explorer will just blank out instantly saying "Internet Explorer could not display the webpage." Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might be able to fix this error? Could the source of this problem be that I disabled an important service? Firefox is doing it as well. It will just say, "Sever could not be reached."

Glad that you are up and running, again.
This is what you do
First because you got such a great buy, online. Lets make sure that it is truly a great buy. Go to the computer icon on your desktop and right click. If you do not have the icon, go to search by the start button and type computer and right click. Go to properties. Make sure that you see the Microsoft, icon in the lower right.
If it is there run a full anti virus scan, download and run a full scan with malwarebytes. If all are negative, this should solve your problem

When you say "blank out", do you mean that it won't be able to load a requested web page and instead shows a blank white page? Make sure you have the system tray network icon enabled, so you can see your network status at a glance. It would be interesting to see if your connection is flipping between "Local and Internet" and "Local Only".

Well, that didn't work. I was able fix the problem myself by going into the Services, enabling the DNS service, then going to command prompt and entering ipconfig /flushdns

rupute to me
