Hmm, adding I understand, replacing system files not so much. Well then there should be other victims with this model or specific bundle. May be HP have a FAQ about expecting strange errors and Microsofts standard tools not to work? May be DVD is corrupt itself?

Since there is no "true" Vista DVD how about enjoying a true Linux live CD? Tried Ubuntu? Now is a good opportunity. If no problems with that and perhaps some hours of Prime95 blend test show no errors, computer is less likely to have hardware errors. Free Software - GIMPS Scroll down to "Setup Instructions for New Users" All you need to do is download/unpack zip-file to whatever empty folder, select torture test under options - then "blend" test. Let it run for at least some hours, the more the better.

There is always the chance it is either bad/buggy driver, or hardware related.
When I say a true Vista DVD I mean "non-Factory OEM Recovery Image", or "altered" OEM version.

Yes I know. But even for HP is it not unlikely bundle come with such problems? Whole idea of bundle is to avoid user effort/thinking. Unless disc/restore partition? is simply corrupted. Their problem anyway. Yep and anything else should be considered a problem. If other strange bugs then even more so. I wont believe HP says "oh that is because of our bundle, just dont run sfc and you will be fine - have a nice day" Microsoft will feel violated to start with. HP must come to the rescue no matter problem is hard- or software based.

They do not provide free tech support for OEM Software. They will ask you for your product key, and then transfer to a pay tech support line that will ask for your credit card number.

Are you serious? Just re-install Premium from a Vista DVD.

Assuming there is no hardware failure, I already told you how to remedy the problem. You are spending alot of time on this when you could have already re-installed and been up and running without integrity violations or corrupt files.

Ps- HP will still provide any warranty tech support for Operating system software issues (If you could call it tech support), regardless of the source of installation (i.e. recovery disk or Vista disk), as long as it is still Premium. If you install a different O/S than the one that came with your computer then they are not obligated to provide tech support for Windows software related issues.

I am telling you right now the best "support" on this youre gonna get from HP is some more Recovery Disks. Thats It- or they will ask you to send in your Computer to be looked at, they will keep it for months, then ship it back stating "no problems found".

Ill tell you what Ill do-

rerun sfc/scannow and use the snip tool to paste the image here with your errors. I will tell you what the problem is, and it may be as simple as downloading and re-installing a program or two.

I dont know HP but would still say it is their problem, new computer is supposed to work. Includes their bundle. Gave bsod out of the box more or less, why you restored in the first place - as HP told you to. After that it has failed to boot, audio something failed to load once. Hmmm. If SFC really is only problem then may be accept, after looking at sfc log that is. Will tell which files are found corrupted.

Check this http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/66978-system-files-sfc-command.html a snippic of sfc result dont show much. Get output from log instead, make a sfcdetails.txt like in the guide. If some weird hardware problem you cant do anything about then those files could be random/any files - so run it more than once. Same files or not?

I just remembered original Vista gave me sfc errors - took a while to figure out why. Was because I had a failed language no. 2 installed. Think it was a confirmed bug or at least I was not alone. Those files were MS files, I dont get how 3rd party files can cause sfc to report corruption. If HP really tampered with MS files then Vista will know no better than complaining - sfc tool is from MS not HP

If you have a clean not HP infected Vista DVD do them and yourself the favor and install that as rive0108 suggest. Also a way to test, if all is fine problem was with HPs Vista version and hardware is tiptop. If not fine you must have hardware problem. With linux live cd, better test of memory then may be you will come to same result. Whatever works. Some errors might not show themself unless X and Y is Z minus 342 - computer can work and yet not. Will seem like random/odd errors. Makes it hard to find out.

Yes the sfc can come back corrupt files after you format, I did mine 4 weeks ago and had over 4000 errors in the event viewer plus some when I ran the sfc it showed corrupted files but I ran it 3 more times and it fixed it self. I had done a complete factory restore.

If you had corrupt files run your sfc 3 more times after it comes back with error's.
