Z3r, I don't kno about anyone else but It's going for me. I ran windows update and it didn't find anything, so I ran it again, lol and there you go, It's probably a lil busy today, being the day SP1 is (supposed) to be comming out.. But I found and it's only to 15% now, not going very fast like I said.. Oh well, I can wait a few more mins, been waiting all year.

are you on just one computer, the Download center Strongly Advises people if they are only running one machine that they should use windows Update, I'm only on one machine so thats what I'm doing, does it matter much, or should I get it from the download center. the one from Download center is a Bigger file than on update...

Ya I kno where the Standalone download is, my question is should I download it, ur just do the windows update, I only have one PC. the Windows Update is going exceptionally slow!

I have two @ home and plan on having to upgrade a few friends' computers for them, thats why I am using the stand alone.

The Vista x64 SP1 download is 726.5 MB, while x86 SP1 download is 434.5 MB. It many cases, it may be quicker and easier to just install via Windows Update, but for those of you who deal with many Vista computers on a daily basis, you can save time by downloading it once, and installing it on as many Vista computers as needed.

ya, but in the Windows Update the file size is 69.2 MB, but the standalone for x86 SP1 download is 434.5 MB. Thats my only concern, why so small on update, and will I be missing anything. Just seems weird thats all.

as i understand it, Windows update will only deliver the updates that your machine needs because SP1 will include all Vista updates previously released. If you've kept your machine up to date, your SP1 update file would be smaller.

oh ok, ya that makes sense cuz my PC is up to date with all the automatic updates that I'e gotten.. Well except for 2. I got 2 through windows update a while back and when It would automatically install after downloading, it would prompt for a reboot, and while reboot it would crash and I'd have to go to a restore point to get up and going. I didn't kno witch 2 was causing that so I just ignore them both, neither are listed as Important, only as Optional..

so ya, I've kept it up to date for the most part. so I guess that could be why my SP1 update is only 70MB.. but I am about to start the SP1 install so I will post after I'm done, assuming all goes well. Thanks for ur input that makes sense, and makes me feel better.

storsett, this is from the Microsoft team Vista Blog:

We released SP1 in these 5 languages: English, French, Spanish, German, and Japanese. If you have any other language installed, SP1 will not yet be offered to you.

Unfortunately there is no schedule given for additional languages beyond the annoying "soon" time frame....

NOT if you're living in South Africa. Most people have a 1GB cap on 384Kbits ADSL from Telkom (the only ADSL provider), because anything faster is just too expensive.

Even with Flashget acceleration, I'm looking at a 6 hour download - assuming that the ADSL line remains stable enough to maintain the connection without the need to retry.

Just arrived on Windows Update for me now being 10:43am Wednesday, 19 March EST.

Mine is 121.5MB in size.
