I have a folder on my external harddrive that I have about 60GB worth of movies stored in. About a week ago I noticed that when I would try to open it, it would take a long time to load; I was and still am getting the green loading ribbon at the top. I can usually fix problems like this myself but this one has me stumped.
I have tried:
multiple virus/malware scans (all clean)
multiple sweeps with CCleaner
disk cleanup for the drive
defragging the entire drive the folder is in
turning off indexing
turning off thumbnails within the folder
changing the view to details; with no icons at all
using the classic folder view
changed folder template from Videos and Photos to All Items
also ran regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll
and there are probably a few other things I've tried over the past week with no luck at all. When I open the folder, it consistently takes over a minute to load everything. This is really getting on my nerves now, does anybody have any ideas or fixes for this? If its any help I started using Microsoft Security Essentials over AVG around the time it started doing this.
