Startup Repair ''not installed''?

Thank you

I want to be sure that you receive the best service available at the Forum. I am willing to referyour CBS report to a member with more expertise in this area.
He may be able to give instructions how to manually repair the problems or perhaps it cannot be repaired manually.
If he cannot help, the next step may be to borrow a install DVD and perform repairs. Let me know how you want to proceed.

Richc- Thank you for the help you have given me so far. I really appreciate it!
If it cannot be repaired manually or every option does not work, its fine. I will back up everything in a hard drive and take it for repairs.
I just wanted to attempt everything I can before I do that.
You may refer the report. Any input is highly appreciated.

Will be glad to. Please understand this forum has members from around the World, and the member that I will refer this to is in another time zone; there may be a short wait.
While it is always good to back up, repair install should not cause loss of programs, settings or other personal files.

Also full scan with anti virus, be sure to update first.
Crashes happen for a reason and malware/virus may be one.

Hello!

Really sorry about the late reply. I was going to do it yesterday, but them my own computer broke and needed fixing :( Partially fixed now :| Hopefully soon to be fully fixed :)

I have just had a look at your log. The only error that is showing is settings.ini. This is not an issue. It just means that your computer manufacturer modified a setting on your Windows Sidebar. You can read more about this here: The SFC.exe command reports Settings.ini file errors in the CBS.log file after you add gadgets to the Windows Vista Sidebar by using the Sysprep tool and an Autounattend.xml file

There are no other errors showing. Your SFC log is clean :)

Best of luck!

Richard

Thank you for your time and effort, Rich.
Well Richard has made his analysis and there is nothing in that report that he can use to fix your problem. The next step is a repair install, which I like to avoid, based upon your earlier post.
Take the upgrade advisor and see if it comes up with anything that we could use.
Free Download PC Upgrade Advisor Windows 7 Hardware Programs Issues
It will find problems with your computer that would cause problems with an upgrade.
Maybe the problem is applicable here ,too.
The problem that Im focusing on is the crashing, not the repair.
Post number 61 may help

Richc!
Sorry for the late response!
I haven't been able to access by laptop for a while now. It just kept opening and freezing 5 - 10 minutes upon start up.
Out of desperation, I started backing up important files.. etc.
Then I started uninstalling programs I do not use &/or have no need for.
Strangely, the crashes and freezing stopped.
I'm completely stumped.
I am assuming one of the programs was causing the trouble?
Where do I go from here? I am also assuming start up repair is still not available.

My Computer

So are you working normally with the programs removed?

You have no problem them.
Install the programs that you want, one by one. Test after each new install. If you find the problem, just uninstall.

No problem, huh? =)
Well these programs are not needed. One of them was called UNiblue Registry.
Is it necessary to test and see which is causing the problem?

My Computer

No, if you dont want the programs forget about it. Just installl the ones you want. We do not have to know which one caused the problem, unless you want to use them again.

No, I do not need them, I was just randomly uninstalling the ones I don't use.
Should I worry about the start up repair? Or just let it go if my laptop's running smoothly?
Other than that, I hope you know hope much I have appreciated your help so far!

My Computer

You are very, very welcome. It is a pleasure to help members like your self that appreciate what we try to do.
Based upon what you told me, the problem was caused by some software that you had installed, but now removed. I think problem solved. But lets take an SFC and see the results before we assume, anything.
