I'm generally illiterate concerning all things computers so please bear with me. My friend has Windows XP and when we stream songs the mp3 shows up in his temporary internet files. However, when I do the same thing on my computer which uses Vista, the MP3s do not show up in my temporary internet files. Is there a way I can find them in another folder?

win 7 stores files in different places than XP. in win 7 files are stored in libraries, that were in their infancy in XP. You might want to look in c:\users\your username\downloads, or music or temp files under your name.
You streaming in a browser? or using a player, or in a gadget.
If you tell us more about the setup we can probably find them if they are stored at all

Edit for an idea: you can also search for *.mp3 with todays' date to see where they are
