You can try to use any one of the bootable cd or dvd. Such as windows xp or windows vista.

You can try to reseat the drive once & then check. If it works then well & good. If not then its time for a drive replacement.

My Computer

I have problems with my tsstcorp cd/dvd ts-l632d ata device. I have Vista Home Premium 32bit and HP dv6000. Sometimes the computer finds the device and sometimes not. I have re-installed the Windows and the drivers are new. What should I do?

My Computer

If you only have trouble with DVD under system - not any boot up trouble you can try install FrogAspi Frog Aspi - the FREE wnaspi32.dll replacement

1.Uninstall DVD driver from device manager
2. Place wnaspi32.dll in C:\Windows\System32 if you have x32 system - for x64 you have to place it in C:\Windows\SYSWOW64
3.Restart computer -system will reinstall DVD driver after restart

My Computer

Ok. I uninstalled the drivers and the device came back but the computer lost it again. I have unistalled the drivers couple of times but the same happens again and again. What should I do now? Humm..

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. I merged the CDgone.reg. I still I'm having no luck. The door opens and closes fine and I can hear the cd spinning inside the drive, but it never shows up in the explorer or plays. Any more ideas of things to try?

Thanks for the help.

Thank you Tanuj! I wrestled with this issue for a couple of days before finding your post.:D I was close to replacing the CD/DVD drive in my Inspiron 1720 laptop; I would have really been upset after finding out that was not the real issue.
