Solved TSST corp CDDVDW TS-L632H ATA Device

Hi,

The message from MS implies the the CD/ DVD is damaged in some way. This could be a manufacturing flaw or just a damaged surface.

There must have been an issue & be a bad batch or they have got damaged somehow?

Sorry.

If the issue is with the media (DVD/ CD) you are trying to format the are no changes to you system that will enable you to successfully complete a format.

So, are you still using the same DVD's etc you mensioned in the other post?

Yes, that's the SFC information I'll review shortly.

Did you try doing a clean boot to see if that makes any difference? The procedure is in my first response to this thread.

I suspect failed attempts to use the drive resulted in errors that are in Event Viewer. Please check thoroughly for these errors and post the details (not just the summary) here. Procedures are in that same first post.

Thanks and good luck! Let me know whether the clean boot worked and I await details on the errors documented in Event Viewer.

That's actually amazing and better than I expected or requested. I didn't realize it could be done that way. Thank you for giving me a better way to get this type of information.

I'm working on all the reports and either can't find the problem (well, I know the problem in general terms but not what's causing it or how to repair it yet) or it's staring me in the face and I can't recognize it (so far). I've requested some assistance with this, so others may show up with replies over the next few hours or possibly days. Please just be patient in the meantime and thank you for being so cooperative - I wish everyone we try to help was as good about it as you have been and it makes me all the more determined to find some kind of answer.

Thanks again and we'll be back to you as soon as possible.

Have you considered that due to your large amount of burnings, the drive is dead?

From my knowledge and research, dvd-r and +r use different burning ways, so its quite possible you've killed the lazer functionality for the +r feature.

Saddly, you've killed more dvds than a new drives worth, so I'd have just bought a new one long ago... Dvd drives are prety much disposable hardware now.

Hope I'm wrong, and someone finds an obscur fix so we can all lewarn something.

G/L.

I'm inclined to agree with Patonb, but there's a way we can possibly set this issue to rest and verify things one way or the other.

If you have another computer (or access to one - maybe a neighbor or a friend or a relative or one at work or whatever) and can swap drives and see if the problem remains on the computer or moves with the drive, that would be very useful information.

It could, in fact, be the most useful piece of information yet provided. It may prove whether or not the problem is the drive or the computer.

Please see if this can be done and let us know the results. You may need to install drivers in the computers to get the other drives to work, but once completed you can then restore things back to normal.

Thanks and good luck.

It's like a car. Even though it may start and run and take you to the grocery store, the radio may still not work. So you keep the car and live without a radio, have the car serviced to fix the radio, or replace the radio.

Drives use different cmponents and electronics to do different things. It may be that most of it is still fine, but whatever does the formatting has become defective. After everything we've tried and examined, we can find no other explanation for the problem (it does not appear to be a software or driver problem). The test would prove it (and yes, it may be difficult to do if you know nobody willing to assist you, but it's the only suggestion I have short of taking it to a computer repair shop for service or simply replacing it - which may prove less expensive in the long run).

We can wait a little longer to see if anyone else replies with another alternative or something we haven't tried - but I suspect everyone who has looked so far has been stumped and unable to offer any other suggestions. But we can wait and see if someone else chooses to reply.

Good luck!

lol i like the metaphor with the car but i think a fuse relay to the ignition may be a better argument.

LOL! Shows you what I know about cars except the phone numbers to roadside assistance and the service station. I have no idea what a fuse relay to the ignition means (nor do I want to know as that kind of thing is beyond me), but I'm glad you enjoyed and understood my comment.

I hope we don't have to wait too long and that someone else replies - I'll refresh the request for assistance.

Thanks and good luck!

Re: Dvd+R to DVD-R TSST corp CDDVDW TS-L632H ATA Device

Hi,

I would now suggest:-

Is you device still in warrenty?
Have you tried to contact Toshiba support sertvices with your requirement for support?

Would you pay a manufacturers support investigation price to find out what is wrong with your device? If so, I feel that that is the best way to diagnose your particular device fault. If not I would suggest that you replace it & move on!

The list grows longer!
