I have now set it as ture. I will go and try it and see if it shows a list of blocked IP address.


I have also got utorrent set up with protocol enyption has enabled do I need to chnage this or shall I leave it as it is?

I have tried to click on the logger tab it says nothing. about if its loaded correctly or its blocked anything?

Is there a problem somewhere?

Try it with Encryption enabled first. Then try Forced. If you're with BT, UK, you may need to set it to Forced.

Remember you have to have a torrent running to see if it's blocking IP's

Are you using µtorrent 1.6? Different versions have different menu layouts. Make sure you RIGHT-CLICK in the Logger FIELD and not the Logger tab itself.

I am using 1.8.1 Where can I find the logger feild is it next to the speed one acroos the row. In the middle of the screen?

When I say Logger field, I mean the blank area under the tabs which are roughly halfway down in µtorrent. It's the end tab after General/Trackers/Peers/Pieces/Files/Speeds/Logger

Yeah I thoght that was it if I click on it there is nothing in there or if I right click on it nothing comes up either?

Edit I have a torrent that has been runing for 30mins.

Have you tried highlighting/selecting the torrent and then clicking the Logger Tab and then right-clicking in the logger field? Right-Clicking should give you a menu.

I hope it worked. It's 3:30am and I'm going to bed...

Any ideas as to why the Ip filter is now showing as loaded corretcly, shall I go ahead and reinstall utorrent and see if that fixs the problem??

Hi wiz, sorry to leave you hanging....

Let's do some double checking:

Did you Unzip the file first?

Did you rename the file to ipfilter.dat

Are you using Vista or XP? XP uses a different location:

XP location
C:\Documents and Settings\<your Windows username>\Application Data\uTorrent

Vista location:
C:\Users\<your Windows username>\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent

Did you set the ipfilter.enable to TRUE

If done correctly, this will confirm that the ipfilter.dat is working:

You should not have to Uninstall µtorrent, but if you do you must also completely remove any µtorrent folders. If you do this, you will need to re-enter all your settings. I hope you get it working

I got it up and running when I click on Logger it says that the Ipfilter loaded. A few questions:

Does it matter if I donwload the full ipfilter.dat or the other ipfilter.dat? I have the full Ipfilter.dat. Also does this need replacing every month or so to keep it upto date?

I got it up and running when I click on Logger it says that the Ipfilter loaded.

You can safely use either the ipfilter_full or just the ipfilter. If you are concerned about speed, just use the smaller ipfter. You can update the ipfilter whenever the ipfilter.dat itself is updated. You can grab the ipfilter from a few places. Just Google "ipfilter.dat"
