Vista causes some programs to not run

I have done what you recommended a couple of times before, unfortunately it doesn't make any difference.

I do not have any Vista CD. This is how the laptop was sold. But Acer has many tools, backup, different types of restoring. One is "Restore the system to factory standard". Can I repair Vista with an XP Home Edition or Windows 7 cd. I do not have Vista cd, the laptop came without any cd.

This is good news. If you back up your stuff, you can restore to factory specs. Do you know how that is done?
No you need a Vista DVD to repair.
You can get one for cost about $25

I would not go there, you can really screw the system if not done correctly. I would save my stuff and go back to factory settings.

Okay.

I want to copy the whole C:\User\[The User]\
directory, should I be cautious about the permissions when pasting it back later?

Very practical tool! Thank you! Know the question is, what to not transfer? I mean, I don't want to transfer something that is messed up then it might mess up the "new install" after exporting.

I have attached some images, I there something I must have or something I definitely shouldn't transfer? Is there some folder that contains information for how a program should run? If so I wouldn't want that folder, if you understand.

My Computer

This is what you do
Your system if borked.
Just transfer your stuff.
Pics
Email
Letters
etc
Do the factory restore.
Then your system will be ok. If you do not get permissions for your stuff that is an easy fix.

I have executed the restore to Factory standard operation. I am a bit worried, the computer is qiet, it seems as though it doesn't work and the screen seems frozen at startup where is says "Microsoft Corporation". Should I leave it alone or restart?

I have put a bit of Adhesive tape on the sceen to see if the greenish thing moves to the right, it has gone almost an hout and it has not moved.

If the factory restore does not set things straight, the problem may be hardware.

Maybe I misspelled, I accepted the process of restoration to Factory standard then the computer restarted and seems frozen. Is it working or frozen?

My Computer

Keep in mind that I am not there. Wait a bit longer and if it does not seem to be working its frozen.

Okay, I took the decision to shut the computer off. It froze again after restarting so I made advanced start pressing F8 and eventually Acer started the restoration.

Everything seems to work fine now, I will make backups and more backups before updating and transferring the dokuments and files back again.

I am so happy and I don't know what I would have done without your help! Thanks for the paitience and support. I have also learned alot and I would say that this is now solved! Sounds good yes? :D

My Computer

Thanks for the kind words, glad that it worked out for you.
