Vista Recovery

I have a Gateway computer with Windows Vista Home Premium that I am trying to perform a recover on. When I start the computer with a recovery disc it goes through the Windows is loading files stage and then goes to ask if I want to use recovery tools to fix problems and tells me to choose my operating system and if my operating system isn't listed then click Load Drivers and then install drivers for your hard disc. When I click load drivers it comes up "System 32" with a bunch of stuff in it and I have no idea what I need to do next. And if I bypass that and recovery manager does come up the option to recover is grayed out. System restore is available but when I click on it I get the message saying no restore points (have no idea where they went).
Any help would be appreciated.

Try booting and while booting continuously and quickly press f11. You will lose your stuff, however

Any beeps when you boot the compter?

Yes one when the gateway logo appears.

Beeps are bad. It means it is a hardware problem. One beep probably means memory. You may have a ram problem which must be replaced.
