Vista SP1 RAM problem !!

I found information about RAM in my BIOS and it says "Total memory 3145728"
3145728/1024 = 3072
3072/1024 = 3 GB
Yeah I always have a bad luck so now i just lost 1GB RAM
Thank you all for help.

hah I couldnt find any information about ram memory :S and I run memory diagnostic tool and there are no errors...i opened my computer case and all is ok but the problem is still here ...

G'Day Nermin,

You're gonna need to bite the bullet Mate and just accept that you will never use the 4GB of RAM that you have installed.

I recently upgraded from 1GB to 4GB of RAM, but before I did, I did a lot of research on this Forum and came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth griping about 'lost capability' so long as the stability of my system was improved by the extra 2+GB that I now have. My system is all the better for it.

For your own peace of mind that 'nothin ain't broke', check out your System Information .......Click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information. Here's a small snip of mine;

You can also confirm what RAM you have 'installed' via the Welcome Centre, eg;

Laptop RAM 2.JPG

There you have it. I would suggest that your situation with Vista x32bit, is exactly the same as mine.....Yes you can max out your installed RAM to 4GB, but you will never use it all, at most you might make 3.2GB.

Hope this helps clarify things for you.

Finally I opened my case and put the RAM out and I mixed it and put it again in the slots. Now its ok again:
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 4,00 GB
Total Physical Memory 3,25 GB
Available Physical Memory 2,35 GB
Total Virtual Memory 6,68 GB
Available Virtual Memory 5,68 GB

I spent whole day thinking is it broken or not. Now Im finally calmed. I have one final question: I cant use all my RAM on Vista x32 but only on Vista x64? THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH.....

That really depends on your motherboard.

What you need to do is go into the BIOS (usually by pressing the <DEL> key when you power up), and then look at "System Information" (or something similar). That should show you the "Total Installed" and "Usable" amounts of RAM. If "Usable" ram is in the region of 3.25GB (3329MB), then even installing Vista x64 would not change that. The deficit is taking place on a hardware level.

Unless the motherboard supports memory remapping, this will always be the case. My old computer (Venus) used an ASUS motherboard, and even with Vista x64 only showed 3.3GB usable. My current rig (Prometheus), also uses an ASUS board, and it shows 4094MB available of 4096MB installed. When I add more, it'll probably show 8191MB available of 8192MB...

Yeah this motherboard isnt old its one of the new ones so I think it should show 4 GB RAM. I will go again and check in BIOS but I think it should be all fine now. You can see pictures of my motherboard its ABIT IX38 QUAD GT.
