I have new computer with Vista Home Premium SP1, so why doesn't my computer tell me to download the SP2 update?

Greetings april5555 and welcome to Vista Forums .......the place where you will always find good advice....well, most of the time anyway. JMH, and especially Dwarf, are both good with advice.

Checking for updates is relatively easy;

[All left click] - Start>Control Panel [select 'Classic View']>Windows Update [Icon - usually right at bottom of page]>Check for Updates [top left of page].

With a new system, it may throw up quite a number of Updates.....just take your time and 'Restart' when prompted, and don't forget to throw in the odd 'Create a new Restore Point', every so often. Even though this is mostly done automatically with each update, it pays to check at intervals, just to be on the safe side..

In case you don't know the process for checking the latest Restore Point;
Start>Control Panel [Classic View again]>System>System Protection [3rd line down at top left of page]>UAC = Continue>This will then open at System Properties and display on the System Protection Tab. Wait for the 'search' in the Available Disks pane to display the most recent Restore Points for each Drive.

Hope this helps.

I have new computer with Vista Home Premium SP1, so why doesn't my computer tell me to download the SP2 update?

I had to download and install every 'Important Update' before it would give me SP2. Some updates are prerequisite for other updates, so after the last one on the current list is done you might get more to come up before you can get SP2. SP2 will eventually show up.

It is recommended to install at the most 3 updates at a time because occasionally a MS update has been known to crash a computer, this way you can hopefully use 'Restore' and then skip the culprit.

Good luck,
