Vista Won't Read DVD Burned in XP

Hi there,

I have burned many DVD (data) on my XP before I switch a computer. Now that I have a Vista x64, the CD drive won't read them. If I use ISOBuster I can see the track and extract them. But if I use Windows Explorer it will prompt me to "prepare blank disc"! Any help? I already finalize the disc and confimred it. Do a hardware diagnostic check and turns out nothing went wrong.

By the way, how can I make Vista not look for application if I insert other CD. (By that I mean just open the CD rather than look for autoplay, I already disable autoplay.)

CD Drive - TSSTCorp H653Q
OS - Vista Home Premium x64
System - HP Pavillion s3600z

It could be the brand of disc that your Vista machine doesn't like. I had to change brands when I got my Vista, the CD's I used on my XP and WinME machine would read but I couldn't write to them in Vista.
Try another brand and see if that makes a difference, that's all I can offer in the way of help ;)

Vista supports Read & write UDF 1.02, 1.50, 2.0x, 2.50, (Read) 2.60 natively. Despite all programs 'conforming to standard' in the past incompatibilities have been reported with cdrw written by InCd, directCD and B'sclip and Roxio. This may help.

Is this a new system. What brand of DVD Reader/Writer do you have?

Although Vista provides UDF 1.02, it does not provide ISO-9660, which it ought to do to enable the DVD to run under some versions of Windows Media Player. Such DVDs will run in Cyberlink PowerDVD, which is often supplied with computers or editing software. You could also look here :-

As mentioned above, this is a new PC. Most DVD are written by InfraRecorder

DVD Drive - TSSTCorp TS-H653Q

Linux on the same system can perfectly read those disc.
