Folks:
Just wanted to share my success finding a driver that worked with my Presario M2000 laptop. I shoehorned Vista 64 onto it, and, as has been widely reported, neither the ATI integrated Audio nor the fax/modem worked.
HP has released drivers which work just fine, even though they aren't labelled for the M2000 series of laptops. They are:
SP35558 (Audio) and SP35736 (Modem) -- Conexant AC97 Audio Driver for Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit) 6.14.10.671 (10 Apr 2007), and Modem Installer for Conexant Soft Data/Fax Modem with SmartCP (Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit) , respectively.
The install program was NOT successful in installing the drivers, but in using the "update driver" dialog in the device manager, navigating to C:\swsetup and using the appropriate directory, installing the drivers by hand was succesful both times. Upon reboot, it worked fine without overriding the driver signature enforcement.
Was surprised that these worked after months of looking. But now the M2000 hums along great with everything doing what it's supposed to do.
Best of luck,
DW
