If you are technically minded and you spill any sugery product on your keyboard you can always take it apart and clean it in a bowl of soapy water. Just make sure it is not connected to the computer at the time.
As for the electronics you can get cleaning products which are not electrically conductive.
There have been test done (do not try this at home), where graphics cards and the like have been put into the washing machine, left to dry out and work after.

As for missing the obvious, my wife called the engineer out to look at the washing machine, it would not go through the draining cycle.
Upon checking the drainage it was found to be blocked and the washer sensed this. If we had checked the drain we could have solved it our selves.
Goes to prove that simple things can cause havok.

Me technically minded, er no lol and I certainly would not go taking a chance and putting my graphics card in the washing machine, can't believe that lol

Maybe in my younger years I might have taken my keyboard apart and done that, but not now

Funny though how we can get caught out by the simplest of things, although not funny at the time

........provided that a good, strong disinfectant is used in HOT water only, fast spin cycle. Use in ratio of 7.5:2.....7.5 litres disinfectant: 2 litres of water. Hang to dry to remove warps.

Here's a great system restore tutorial you may find handy, I use it constantly.

You can even set it to create a point when you boot the machine, or just leave the shortcut on the desktop where it's at hand; give it a good read. The "instant" option is great; that way you can create a point before you do any changes to your system; that you can go back to if needed.

Ah well the thing is I was not aware of that and would'nt have known, I just thought I did'nt have a choice but to format the HD

Thing is I am now reluctant to install the game and try to play it

I don't have the Limited Edition but I just installed it - along with the 1.64 patch - and it's running fine.

The thing I'm wondering about: when I installed it, the game wanted to install DX9c - which I canceled because Vista has DX10. Did you "let" the game install 9c? That might have caused your problems.

I did read somewhere, probably not here, that if a game wants to install any dx files then let it, incase any are missing or needed, I might be wrong, but I know I read this somewhere

But you may be right, I have never said no to things like that so its a possibility

I am stilll nervous of installing it again though, still I intend to try and fix my XP problem today and see if its ok on that
