Why is this OS so hated/underrated?

I mean, I don't see why Microsoft decided to say they released a new OS instead of a service pack like they do with the rest, if that makes sense.
Speaking of vista SP1 I have an issue, I reinstalled it and the updates came and installed BUT not one of the IE updates were found for it, for some reason. Have MS killed off IE updates unless you run SP2 or is this just a weird bug? I tried setting it to check for updates automatically (the option itself was missing from the IE options and I reenabled it in the registry to no avail).

-not even the old updates came for some weird unknown reason?

Exactly, Vista SP1 is no longer supported, you HAVE to have SP2 in order to receive updates. I have the Technet ISO of Vista w/SP2 included stored in my Cloud. I could PM you a link #DixieKongJD if you wish to indicate whether it's x86 or x64.

I was experiencing a lot of performance issues since I installed it (i.e. video game emulation was too slow for no reason at all), it's slightly faster now.
I mean, I should get some IE updates from before SP2 was released, but none arrived, however all the pre-SP2 patches did arrive - funny enough the MSRT supports Vista SP1, though.

It's iffy as to what would arrive on an unsupported system and my advice is always to update to the latest available.

True lol.
I'm back on Vista after a looooong time more usable than 7 for me.
