Solved Windows Aero is gone, stuck on Windows Classic

Hello theman91 did you install the correct logonstudio, one is for XP and one for Vista. I do know for sure hang in there we will find a answer for you. Thanks buddy...

Yes, I did install the Vista version. I'm usually pretty good with computers and can solve simple problems, and I thought this was simple. Turns out it's more complicated than I thought so I appreciate all the help everyone.

I ran speccy and this is what came up under Graphics:

Generic PnP Monitor (1280x800@60Hz)
Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family

so where do I go from here?

Did you "enable transparency" in windows color and appearance?

When this happened to me the transparency options weren't available! I would try re-installing that ViGlance and see what happens. Logon studio is just a utility that does a one time swap out of the image that appears at boot time and isn't a process or anything that is running each time with Vista.

Hi,
I am not sure what Vista HP 64bit has in its menu if searching in Start box for Aero.


If it is similar to win 7 a list of options appear, one of them is :-

Find and fix problems with transparency & other visual effects.

It would be worth trying this, if indeed it is available on your HP 64bit.

When I search Aero in the start box, I get nothing.

I tried re-installing ViGlance, and my taskbar changed but the start button was still grey, as was everything else.

ilikefree: I am not even given the option to enable transparency settings on Colors and Appearance, also once I got to the Intel Download center and selected what exactly I needed, I was given 18 results. I'm not sure what to do now, or what to even install

I had a similar problem. But I had windows classic showing up. What I did was went to device manager. Found my graphics card and right clicked and updated. No problems every since
