Windows photo gallery problem

........so, while everybody is so damned jovial in the middle of the silly season, uncertain of everyone elses identity and their own, I have a problem which doesn't warrant medical attention of the psychiatric field.

If I slot the Camera Memory Card into my Laptop Reader, it won't recognise it and I cannot import. Yet if I slot it into my MFC [see my System Specs], I have no problems whatsoever. Have I missed a step in configuring the set-up?:huh:

Not necessarily mate. There are an great variety of memory cards out there ( I have seen card readers that accept up to 30+ different cards) and it may well be your Laptop Reader just doesn't recognise it. I have the same problem with a Canon Digital on my Toshiba Laptop. The Toshiba is old and the Canon is new.

Does your card have this logo on it?

If so, it could be that the reader on your laptop isn't capable of dealing with that type of card whereas the one on your MFC is. Here is a link to some more information on SD cards: Secure Digital card - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

G'Day Dwarf,

Hope you're enjoying your festivities. No, the card is just the standard SD which should be compatible with the reader. Oh well, looks like it might be best to shell out a few $$$$s and get myself a decent Card Reader, as I do have another Camera that uses an SDHC Card.

I'm currently working on upping my HDD [with Norm as the Consultant[?]:shock: and Advisor[?]:cry:], so the reader can wait-out for a while. At least I now know where I'm at, and it won't be a problem come the time. By the way, thanks for the link because I do like to do as much reading as I can, before taking the plunge.
