Windows update does not work and cannot even get into it

Still not working. Do I need to reboot after installing the reg key?

Reboot is not needed. Did u tried the command i given u. I edited my post after some time

It says The Volume Shadow Copy service was started successfully but when I try rstrui.exe again, it still comes up saying Volume Copy service not working.

Then type regsvr32 msxml3.dll in command prompt also..

Yay, it worked. I can get into my services now! :D

Try windows update & system restore now. Make sure those three services started

I am having EXACTLY the same symptoms, but when I tried the command prompt regsvr32 action it merely said the dll failed to load. I've tried downloading the dll off the net but get the same response. Any suggestions?

Also, my Windows Live Mail lost its Inbox at the same time, and I cannot load my Mail Account back in.

All I did was run sfc /scannow and everything works again:D

Just a follow - up.

I was also having problems installing any software and my computer was printing wrong colours, that has also been fixed by that registry entry you have given me. Am able to install programs again.
