After a clean things may be slow until it builds up your cache again
Once you have opened a program it should open faster next time.

Yea, I thought the same thing but I really don't think the performance is getting any better. It's still very slow; sluggish opening windows and programs.

Is it common after a restore for a system to run this slow?

After a restore the computer should work the way it did when you first brought it home.

How much RAM do you have?
Could you download speccy and fill in your system specs please it will tell us more about what we are dealing with.

K, I installed and ran Speccy. I haven't used this program before so I took a snapshot of the summary specs.

I want to say, so far since I've started it up, the system has been running smoothly and fast. Now, I've just discovered something about why this system has been moving slowly. I had the Shockwave Flash plugin for Mozilla Firefox which is the browser I'm currently using, disabled. When I had this disabled, I was able to open Mozilla and access different websites without the system spontaneously running slow. (CPU usage shoots up to 100% spontaneously.)

Now, I noticed that when I access video websites such as break.com, I can't view the videos because the Shockwave Flash plugin is disabled. When I enabled it, I was able to view the videos again, BUT, it only lasted about a minute before the system began to run slow, so I think I've isolated the problem.

The question now is, why is the Shockwave Flash plugin causing my system to run slow?

K, I've done what you've advised, but the problem persists. Now I read a similar post containing the same problem I'm experiencing. It was concluded that there is a memory leak coming from the Adobe Flash plugin. Can this be my problem? If so, how would I go about fixing that?

Is there an updated version of flash? if not maybe an earlier version would help.
I would only go back one version though.

EDIT:Speccy was so you could fill in your system specs on your profile page.

I deleted the Flash plug-in I had installed previously which was 10.2, and I installed an earlier version, 9.0, but still the problem persists.

Note: Ha, k, specs updated.

I just re-restored the Vista, and it's still slow. It's actually slower than it was before. I noticed something however after accessing the System properties on Computer, before this most recent restore, it said on the Windows Experience Index that the Processor component was at 1.5. Now it says, it's at 3.2, and the base score is 1.7 from the Memory(RAM).

I'm awfully confused as to what's going on here because how can these numbers change after restoring and why is it going even slower than the last time I restored?

Sounds like it could be a hardwear problem.
If you were getting BSOD before clean install.
Maybe a bad driver. If flash is slowing things down
could be you need to update your video drivers
not just flash.

As of the previous, not lastest restore I did, I didn't have many programs installed. What I did have was Mozilla Firefox, AIM, DAP, Realplayer, Core FTP and WAMPserver. I've just now installed the driver for the graphics card, however things still appear sluggish. Tonight, I will once again download and install SP2, even though the last time I restored I had it installed and the system was still performing slowly.

If indeed it is a bad driver, how would I go about finding that out?

I've just ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and there does not seem to be any hardware issues that have been caught.

Note: I was wondering about Virtual Memory in the System Properties section; about changing it, perhaps raising the number. I know nothing about that section, but can I raise the virtual memory to perhaps keep it running faster since random processes I do like sometimes right clicking on my dekstop slow the system down?

Here's an update. I actually removed one of the RAM chips and replaced it with another one, and the computer has not been moving slow so apparently there was a problem with the RAM chip.

I'm not quite sure how RAM chips work so either it was damaged or died, but apparently that solved the problem. I'm still giving it a few days, but right now it seems the problem has been solved.

I want to thank you all for assisting me with this frustrating problem.
