This will probably help
If you create a recovery DVD, you may be able to boot to recovery options
Create Recovery DVD

The Vista recovery disk is used to boot Vista when it won't boot - to run Startup Repair, System Restore, access a Command Line, Recover using a Vista Backup Image, etc.
System Recovery Options. Choose an option tht will not cause you to lose your stuff.

If Vista will not start now, boot the Recovery CD to run Startup Repair which automates System Restore as well as numerous other tests including System File Checker which can repair system files which are not corrupted beyond repair.

If Vista still will not start, try booting into Safe Mode to run sfc /scannow to repair System files.

• Startup Repair. Startup Repair is a Windows recovery tool that can fix certain problems, such as missing or damaged system files, that might prevent Windows from starting. Startup Repair is located on the System Recovery Options menu, which is on the Windows Vista installation disc. If your computer has preinstalled recovery options, it might also be stored on your computer's hard disk. For more information, see Startup Repair: frequently asked questions and What are the system recovery options in Windows Vista? If your computer does not include Startup Repair, your computer manufacturer might have customized or replaced the tool. Check the information that came with your computer or go to the manufacturer's website.
• Change restart settings in safe mode. If your computer is stuck in a loop where Windows fails, attempts to restart, and then fails again repeatedly, restart your computer in safe mode and select the Disable automatic restart on system failure checkbox. For more information, see Advanced startup options (including safe mode).
• Reinstall. If no other options have solved the problem, and you are sure that your computer's hardware is functioning normally, you might need to reinstall Windows. A custom (clean) installation of Windows will permanently delete all of the files on your computer and reinstall Windows, so only use this option if all other recovery options have been unsuccessful. After the installation, you will need to reinstall your programs and restore your files from backup copies. For more information, see Installing and reinstalling Windows**.

I did that before I even posted. Should I run that dvd I made again?

Let me know what happens.
Theat disc should work.
If the DVD does not work, make a new one and set computer to boot from DVD.

When I get to the page that says system recovery options. Do I just click on the startup repair or a different one?

Because you cant boot, just try startup repair and cross your fingers.

Ok, i've done that twice and after i restart it just hangs at a black screen.

Try system restore.
If you are given a choice of dates pick one a week before the problem began.

It says I have no restore points on the computer.

Should I try making a new dvd?

No a new DVD will not make any differnce. If you have the option choose complete restore (or something like that)
If that does not work, dont worry there will still be one more option.

It says no valid backup loacations could be found.
Windows cannot find a backup on the hard disks or dvds on this computer.
Attach the correct hard disk or insert last backup dvd and then start the restore process again.

You cannot get into boot? Is that by using the F2 key from which I understand for Acer you can change Boot order>

We already tried to boot from the DVD and did not work.
We got into repair.
If this step does not work, need the install DVD.

Ok this is what you have to do.
If Vista came with the computer, call the computer manufacturer and ask for a restore disc (should be free) or an install DVD (get it for cost of about $25.00)
If you bought the DVD and installed Vista yourself call Microsoft for an install DVD or use the one that you have if you can find it.
Before you do anything make sure that you have the key number.
There are 25 letters or numbers each 5 separated by a dash
Its on the computer, somewhere, if Vista came with computer.
You need the number to install.

The computer came with it installed. If I found somebody that has one can I use that or do I have to have brand new one?

Do you have a key number? It should be on the computer.

To the best of my knowledge if you have a valid key (yours probably is an OEM, has OEM in the combination of letters) you should be able to use any DVD. It would not hurt to try and it may save you $25.00.
I will assume that you will borrow the full DVD and not the upagrade

Well I tried to order the dvd on acer and it tells me Recovery media is no longer available for the serial number you entered.

Do you think my hard drive is bad? I'm thinking it's time to just buy a new computer.
