Re: Logon Title and Text Message

I noticed that this does not work if you have the Aurora boot screen enabled (by checking the No Gui Boot option in msconfig).

Is there any way to get them both to work?

Re: Logon Title and Text Message

Hi sbw07, and welcome to Vista x64 Forums.

The SP1 must have fixed this problem. I do not seem to have a problem with the Title and Text appearing at the Welcome logon screen. It should still appear in the Switch User and Log Off screens for you though. See if enabling the CTRL+ALT+DEL Secure Logon screen will help.

Re: Logon Title and Text Message

sbw07, I'm glad to hear that it is working now. Did you enable the CTRL+ALT+DEL Secure logon screen before it started working for you, or did it just start working later on it's own?

Re: Logon Title and Text Message

I actually disabled CTRL+ALT+DEL before it started working, although now it works even when enabled. I also had my system configured to auto-login to my account. Another thing was that I had entered in values in the LegalNoticeText & LegalNoticeCaption DWORDS in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.
Lastly I had not entered anything into the legalnoticecaption key that you mention. It started working after I did.
However I don't know what caused it to start working, being that I played with all the other settings I mentioned.

Re: Logon Title and Text Message

It looks like you just entered them into the wrong registry location. The LegalNoticeText & LegalNoticeCaption String Value (REG_SZ) at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

do not both need to have anything entered for them to work. You should be able to have either a Title or Text, or both.

Hi VapouRx7, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Yes. You will just need to go back and clear the entries so that they are blank in Method Two (steps 5 and 6). Afterwards, you will not have the screen anymore.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Thanks for replying so quickly, but it's not working. I configured this message trough an program (WinSettings or something else, a registery defragmenter i think), i first set the two strings to 0, and then i got an startup message with "0", then i removed it again, then my old one was there.

Any help? (Btw, the program has expired by now, i really want to remove the message, hardly.)
