crashnet,
Do you have a wireless mouse or keyboard? When you ran Step Four, was the keyboard or mouse listed as allowed to wake the computer up? Have you checked by switching the BIOS S1 or S3 settings? Add any more details that you think may help to. Shawn |

there is no choosing between S1 or S3 in the BIOS.
i do have a wireless mouse an keyboard, and i set them to NOT wake up the computer - i can do it from the laptop keyboard. but i dont think they are the problem cause it doesnt wake up even when i have both of them unplugged. i have a lenovo T60-6371 with all the latest drivers and BIOS. i can hibernate fine, but it never wakes up from sleep correctly. it seems that it is about to wake up (num lock and caps lock flash, fan comes on) but the screen never shows anything. when i first got it from factory it did sleep fine, so i dont think my problem is cheap non acpi compliant hardware (not to be expected in a thinkpad anyways). one would think it would be a video driver issue, but i've been thru three incarnations of them. the current driver for the GMA950 (945 Express Chipset Family) is 7.14.10.1329. thank you |

![]() Is there a BIOS option for "repost video on resume" or something like that? That might help. Also, have you tried an external monitor? Does that work? |

I always had to press the case power button to wake the computer up from hibernation. Only if I put the computer to just Sleep will it wake up from the keyboard or mouse. This is just something to try to see if you may just have a corrupted Hibernation file. Afterwards, see if helped with having a fresh clean hibernation file. 1. Run Disk Cleanup and check Hibernation file Cleaner and click OK. This will wipe it out clean. 2. Restore the hibernation file. You can see how here: Power Options and Sleep Mode Problems Hope this helps, Shawn |

Yes of course. The USB is powered completely off along with everything else when the machine hibernates. I just thought of something else. The kosher way to wake a Thinkpad from sleep is to hold the "Fn" button on the keyboard (or open the lid unless you've disabled that). IIRC you can use the Thinkpad Keyboard Customizer Utility to map "Fn" to a key on an external keyboard. This might enable wake up from the external keyboard. Here's the utility: Vista: Lenovo Support & downloads - Keyboard Customizer Utility for Windows Vista - ThinkPad XP/2000: Lenovo Support & downloads - Keyboard Customizer Utility for Windows 2000, XP - ThinkPad |

BTW, hibernation doest work anymore either. when i select hibernate, it seems that it will happen (screen goes blank then it writes to disk) but then it beeps and i am back at the welcome screen. i read elsewhere that this problem can be related to the january 8th updates, but at the same time some people say this problem happens after re partitioning with partition magic, which i did do and as far as i can recall is what caused the problem for me. drive C IS marked as the active partition. |

My hybernate and sleep were working fine until I installed a new sound card M-Audio Delta 66. I have installed the latest vista drivers for it.
When my computer tries to sleep the monitor goes blank, but I still hear the hard drive and cpufan still going. If I disable the device in the device manager, it lets my computer sleep. I hate to have to disable and reinable this everytime I want to use the device (audio recording). Is there a work around for this? Thanks! |

Hi faudramsey,
Welcome to Vista Forums. ![]() From what I read on that audio board, there is some sort of sleep mode support issue with the drivers still. I would contact M-Audio support to see if they have a solution in the works that you may be able to try. M-AUDIO - Contact Tech Support# Does it work ok if you were to uninstall the drivers in Device Manager and use the default one's that Vista gives it? Sorry, ![]() Shawn |
