Re: Low Disk Warning

Okay, it works now.
I remember seeing that method for Windows XP, but it didn't work for me, so I removed the changes to the registry.
It turns out you need a combination of both to get arid of those annoying messages.

Re: Low Disk Space Warning in Vista

Hi,

I wanted to know if this reg download (the download itself) will work on a Vista 32 bit machine (realizing the name of the forum is VistaX64.com).

I just wanted to confirm that before downloading it.

Thanks,
Rich

Re: Low Disk Space Warning in Vista

Hi Rich,

This tutorial does not have a REG download.

However, unless the downloads here specifies different, they are all usually for both the 32 bit and 64 bit Vista. In that case, you will have two separate downloads for each version.

Hi Clark,

I'll do one better for you. I exported mine for you to merge with yours.

Here's how to do it:
1. Click on Policies.reg (below) and save to your desktop.

Attachment 188

2. Right click on Policies.reg (on desktop) and click Merge.
3. Answer YES and OK to the confirmation pop-up windows.
4. Delete file when done.

That's it. It should be there now as above.

Hope this helps you,
Shawn

Shawn,

On page one, there is a posting by you that has a reg file as an attachment (Policies.reg). I was curious if that file (I thought you made) will work on Vista 32?

Thanks,
Rich

Re: Low Disk Space Warning in Vista

Shawn,

I used your registry file. Unfortunately I sent it to a client without testing it & they are having issues (including a quickbook registry error).

How do I undo everything except the low disk notification?

Here is the information from your file:

I now have the start menu items missing. Can I rerun this registry entry changing your entry:

Code:
"NoStartMenuMFUprogramsList"=dword:00000001
to :

Code:
"NoStartMenuMFUprogramsList"=dword:00000000
(Assuming 0 turns that off)?

Can I also reenable the autorun?
Code:
"NoDriveTypeAutoRun"=hex:91,00,00,00
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoDriveTypeAutoRun"=hex:91,00,00,00
"NoLowDiskSpaceChecks"=dword:00000001
"NoStartMenuMFUprogramsList"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Network]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Windows]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Windows\Sidebar]

Re: Low Disk Space Warning in Vista

Rich,

This will undo that reg file:

Code:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoDriveTypeAutoRun"=dword:00000091
"NoLowDiskSpaceChecks"=-
"NoStartMenuMFUprogramsList"=-
OR

Policies.reg < Click to Download

Re: Low Disk Space Warning in Vista

Shawn,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

1. Will that reg file undo everything (including the disk space notification)?

2. If so, & I want to stop the low disk notification would I do the following:

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoLowDiskSpaceChecks"=dword:00000001

Thanks,
Rich
