Update wiped?

Hello, I came to this forum for help. Just recently vista released an update, and installed it's self. Well it took away my desktop background, and everything in my documents, and my pictures. Only thing left on my computer was the stuff I downloaded. Not to mention when I bring up firefox, all my history is gone, as well as my book marks. It does the same thing if I restart, or shutdown my laptop to. I tried running a virus scan, adware scan, spybot scan, that did nothing for me. So it has to be a windows issue. I was wondering is there some sort of patch I can download to fix this? I even tried to run a system recovery, it did nothing for me. So I am opened for suggestions. What should I do?

Hello Nathurus, and welcome to Vista Forums. :)

If you know which Windows Update it was, then you can see if uninstalling it may help.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

You may not have lost your Firefox history, etc.

Start checking that with the information in this document:

Profile Manager - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

You may find that you have more than one FF profile, only one of which contains your now-missing information.

Hello, I have also had this same problem, it has happened twice now and both times System Restore has fixed it but once vista forces the update it will most likely happen again. I have noticed that after installing the update when it restarts it will not configure the updates which it usually does so that might be a problem but not sure. Any help will be nice, thanks.
